WHY AREN’T MY CHICKENS LAYING?! 🥚🐔

It’s that time of year again, and we know many of you are wondering why your hens have slowed down on egg production! Don’t worry, your girls aren’t necessarily slacking off, and there’s no need to threaten to turn them into chicken noodle soup! 😂

As the seasons change, shorter daylight hours, cooler temperatures, and molting can all affect egg production.

☀️Less Daylight: Hens need adequate daylight to maintain consistent egg production. As our days get shorter, it’s completely normal for laying to slow down.

🍂 Molting Season: Many chickens begin molting in the fall, shedding old feathers and growing new ones. Feather growth takes a lot of energy and nutrients, so egg production may decrease significantly or temporarily stop.

❄️ Seasonal Changes: Changes in temperature, weather, and overall routine can also affect how frequently your hens lay.

The good news? This is a normal part of a chicken’s life cycle! Make sure your flock has access to fresh water, a balanced layer feed, and plenty of proper nutrition while they go through this seasonal slowdown.

Sometimes you just need a little extra love, and Ben’s daddy was more than happy to make that happen. Work can wait! ❤️

It also makes us wonder if Ben is really missing lil’ Butters and was just giving Chris gentle reminder… We can all feel that right about now. 😢🐾"
