Long Post 😒
For those of you who don't already know, I was officially diagnosed with acute heart failure & cardiopathy in 2023. In 2016, when I was 19 years old - my doctor had already started seeing signs of heart failure but I ignored it because I was still in active addiction.
I have been experiencing these odd, lower left chest pains over the last couple month. Today, I finally went and had an echocardiogram done to have my heart function re-evaluated. Below are the results that I got back from my doctor.
Here are Google's definition of my diagnosis:
Acute heart failure is a sudden, severe worsening or new onset of heart failure where the heart rapidly fails to pump enough blood for the body's needs, causing fluid buildup (congestion) in the lungs and body, leading to intense breathlessness, fatigue, and swelling, and requiring emergency care. It can happen in people with existing chronic heart failure (acute decompensated HF) or as a new event (de novo HF).
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood, causing it to become thickened, enlarged, or stiff, leading to symptoms like shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling, and irregular heartbeats, potentially resulting in heart failure or sudden cardiac arrest. The main types are dilated (weakened/enlarged), hypertrophic (thickened), and restrictive (stiffened). Causes can be genetic, acquired from other conditions (like infections, high blood pressure), or unknown, with treatments including medications, devices, surgery, or lifestyle changes.
If everyone could please take one minute of their time to ask God for healing, and the mental strength to start making real, true adjustments so I can get this weight off.. I would greatly appreciate it. 🙏
