Do all dogs take their time looking over every single one of my tools and giving them the official sniff test?

Yes. Yes, they do.

It doesn’t matter if I’m there to fix a faucet, install a ceiling fan, or repair a door. Every dog seems to believe they’re the head of Quality Control.

They inspect the toolbox.
They inspect the drill.
They inspect the extension cord.
They inspect me.

Only after a thorough investigation and several approval sniffs am I allowed to begin work.

🐶🔨

I guess every job site needs a supervisor.

The canine foreman conducts his inspection. 😆

See these handrails? Stunning. 😍

Sturdy aluminum. Gorgeous finish. And if you've seen something like this anywhere in the city, chances are, I put it there. My customer said she wished she had met me years ago for this.

This is the kind of craftsmanship that makes your home stand out from the street. 🏠✨

🚪 Sometimes I get called in to fix what someone else started and that's okay, that's part of the job and these inexperienced installers need to start somewhere.

Yesterday I visited a customer who had a storm door installed last year by someone they found online. The door cost hundreds of dollars and was never installed correctly, it just didn't work right from day one.

After a year of it not working correctly and parts being worn out prematurely, they called me. After taking a look, I was able to make all the necessary adjustments and get that door working perfectly. The customer was thrilled, and honestly, so was I. There's nothing better than leaving a job with a happy homeowner!

Storm doors might seem simple, but proper installation and adjustment make all the difference. I've been working with them for years and know exactly how to install a new exterior or storm door.

If you're thinking about hiring someone for a job, whether it's a door, a repair, or anything around the house, please don't just go with the first name you see online. The most important thing is successful testimonials from people who have trusted them in the past. Ask to see their work. Ask about their experience. Read their reviews.

You, your home and your wallet deserves someone who knows what they're doing. 🏠🔧

One of the best “tips” that I receive now and then happened today.
I’m a handyman, and I just finished doing some work for my sister-in-law. I showed up on time, paid attention to every detail, and did the kind of work I’d be proud to put my name on.
Her tip? Homemade pasta and meatballs, six packs of Modelo and Guinness, and a couple peanut butter cookies.
Honestly, that level of thoughtfulness means a lot. Anybody can hand you cash, but when someone takes the time to do something personal and appreciative like that, it sticks with you. Cash is good too.
Today is a great day.
