We had the opportunity today to do some volunteer work at infinity acres. These guys do a lot in our community, we were happy to be able to help them finish up this project which will help to grow food and intended to help veterans. They had a few panels left to put on and they called us to see if we could volunteer some time to help them finish this up, after it was left incomplete.

We're like no worries, we will be out Tuesday morning. this isn't a hey look at what we did post, but just to show you it doesn't always have to be about the money. Do good where you can and when you need some help it will probably be there for you too. None of us make it through live without a helping hand from time to time.

I had a conversation with a customer today and it led me to write the following, after hearing her horror story.

Before hiring someone to work on your home or business, make sure they are LICENSED and INSURED.

Far too many people try to save a few dollars by hiring unlicensed or uninsured contractors, only to end up paying thousands more later when something goes wrong. Poor workmanship, unsafe electrical work, improper structural repairs, roofing failures, plumbing leaks, and code violations can quickly turn into disastrous and expensive situations.

What many people don’t realize is this:

If an unlicensed contractor damages your property, performs unsafe work, or abandons the job, your options are often extremely limited. In many cases, it becomes a civil court matter, and you may not receive the protections or assistance that are available when dealing with a properly licensed contractor.

There is a reason permits, inspections, building codes, and inspectors exist:

They are there to help protect homeowners, business owners, and the safety of the public.

A legitimate contractor should:

✔ Carry an up-to-date contractor’s license
✔ Carry proper insurance
✔ Pull permits when required
✔ Follow building codes and inspection requirements
✔ Be verifiable through the Virginia DPOR system or local inspection office

Before hiring anyone, do your homework.

You can easily:

• Ask to see their contractor’s license
• Verify the contractor or company through the Virginia DPOR website
• Call your local inspections/building department to confirm the contractor is legitimate

At Stone Construction LLC, we take pride in doing things the RIGHT way.

✔ Licensed
✔ Insured
✔ A Rating with the Better Business Bureau
✔ Proudly led by the recipient of the 2026 Martinsville & Henry County Young Professional of the Year Award

When it comes to protecting your home, business, and family — quality, accountability, and legitimacy matter.

Don’t risk your biggest investment just to save a few dollars upfront.

Here at Stone Construction, even though we're a small business, we take safety very seriously, this is why we have been out of town training this week, we want to stay ontop of industry standards and changes to osha.

For any of my fellow classmates and trainers that might click on our page, thanks for the good time and experience.

And lastly, Be Safe because you're certified now.

Yes Stone Construction operates under osha guidelines, even though technically we dont have to because the size of our business, that said, I hope it shows you our commitment to safety.

We put our money (cause these classes aren't cheap) where our month is.
