Well... i started to set this up as... if your typical indoor air handler is more then a 20 foot lift and is a Carrier or Bryant unit... they will need a device the shut off the freon flow to stop oil from migrating out of the compressor as well as liquid starts in the suction line....
But enough of that and while on jobs I get distracted a little bit by the passion of the home owner with gardens, insects with new places to go daily and see...

When I first got into the hvac trade... i had no idea how many different thermostats that id be forced to learn to set each one up! These are but a few of about a 1,000 different Tstats' that have come and gone.
*The most stupid is the heat pump selection. All brands use the O terminal but Rheem/Ruud, same company, had to use a B terminal for changing the heat in winter/summer.
*This has and will continue to confuse home owners, who would end up changing thier own thermostat at there own house.

The Leesburg Kettermans Jewelry Store strip mall, had installed 2 Commercial Roof top units. This is one of those for the Hair Salon that I had done! Has an economizer for free cooling when the temps drop below 60°. Really neat that with potentially a higher heat load, the dampers open 100% to fresh air so the compressor wouldn't have to run at all. Science continue's to make things more efficient!
*As a side note, had seen about 300 dead spotted lanternfly's on the roof, they would fly up there and either couldn't fly back over the ridge or there life cycle was at the end. (Just strange)

This Carrier Infinity thermostat had to be replaced due to a software issues couldnt be updated. The new Thermostat is a WiFi capability and much more user friendly. I'm digging the new look! A 10 year warranty on it as well to boot!

*Ecobee is my favorite Thermostat for 24 volt.

Daikin is my favorite DC Thermostat that only uses 4 wires for the Heat pump.

This Trane unit required a new "Drive". I believe this unit compressor has 75 speeds lol! I was called in to this new customer as a second opinion. They were told they needed all of their hvac system replaced at the 11 year mark. The compressor still even had a 1 years of warranty left of 12 years. I repaired it and the customer was thrilled!
Always new technologies that I'm running into even after 20 years in my own hvac company Lol.

A new customer got my name after another company made them upset. The other company had replaced the indoor coil and it leaked agian.
They gave a price to replace another indoor coil and a outdoor new unit due to the refrigerant change over for 2026.

The before and after from a Trane to a Daikin 17 Seer, 19 speeds for the compressor, 30% more efficient, with Inverter technology and a 99 year compressor warranty!
I'll have to get a picture of the new indoor unit, Goodman / Daikin.
So very quite outside near the deck, you have to look to see if its running by the fan spinning. So neat!
