Today isn't about a long weekend, a cookout, or an extra day off work.
Today is about remembrance.
It's about the men and women who left home wearing our nation's uniform and never made it back. Sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and friends who sacrificed everything so that generations they would never meet could live in freedom.
Some gave years of their lives in service. Others gave their last breath.
Because of them, we wake up each morning with freedoms that many around the world can only dream of. We build our businesses, raise our families, gather with friends, and enjoy simple moments that were paid for by extraordinary sacrifice.
As flags wave across our communities today, may we remember that each one represents a story, a family, and a hero whose absence is still felt.
So before the celebrations begin, take a moment. Say a prayer. Share a memory. Thank a Gold Star family. Teach the next generation why this day matters.
We remember.
We honor.
We will never forget.
