A big thank you to all showed up for our first plant sale! For those that missed out, or are ready for more, we'll be back Process General Store this Saturday!

A few additional species will be making an appearance - late figwort, purple coneflower, cardinal flower, New England aster, meadow blazing star, and rough blazing star. We'll see if there are a few others that end up sneaking in the car...

As a reminder: We would be thrilled to take back and reuse any of the pots you received from us at our previous sale, or even last season.

See you this weekend and happy growing! 🐝

A few of our second year plants soaking up some sunshine after a LOT of rain this week - with more in the forecast.

Here we have Jacob's ladder, wild bergamot, bottlebrush grass, and stiff goldenrod. We will have seedlings, as well as second year plants like these at our upcoming plant sales. They are more mature, sooner to bloom, and very cold hardy since they've been outside all winter long.

The seasons have finally shifted and while our growing season has passed, seeding season is upon us!

Winter is a great time to seed native species for a few reasons:

1. Many WI native species have a dormancy that requires exposure to cold and moist conditions to germinate (ie winter conditions). We're letting nature work her magic and will be able to come back next spring to seedlings popping up. If we were to seed this same mix in the spring, many of the species wouldn't germinate until the following year. This would give weedy or undesirable plants an advantage to move in.

2. You can actually see where you've seeded for more even coverage.

3. The freeze/thaw cycle will draw the seeds to the ground and improve soil contact, and promoting germination success.

4. Year round gardening anyone?! Soil needs to be prepped prior to seeding, but using this method allows for a larger window to get seeds on the ground. Being able to complete this project during our 'slow season' is a real plus.

Have you tried snow sowing before?

Stay tuned for updates!
