Behemoth Artworks

Behemoth Artworks I am a Fine Artist and Illustrator interested in wildlife illustration, landscapes, conceptual piece

Specializing in wildlife from all eras of earth's history, my paintings, drawings, and watercolors are often as diverse as the subjects themselves, reflecting the diverse spectrum of life on earth. A Vermont native, I became enamored with animals and the beautiful landscape that surrounded me as a child. I quickly developed a love of art and have drawing and painting ever since. My work has always

focused on intricacies of nature and theorganisms that occupy it, whether they be right outside the window or have long since gone extinct. I have a deep passion for Dinosaurs and often incorporate them into my work, though I have a love for all the animals that have lived on the earth. Painting landscapes is another passion and I am often inspired by the beauty of my home state. A Johnson State College graduate with a BFA, I do medium to small scale acrylic paintings as well as drawings in charcoal, graphite, watercolor, and pen and ink. Many of the paintings and other artwork seen here are available for purchase unless otherwise stated and my services as an artist can be available upon request.

Reference Sketch vs Final Painting

For larger pieces I like to draw a more refined illustration to help give me the best possible reference for color and composition. These are a few from the last few months

Ceratopsians are some of my favorite animals. The “Alberta Horned Face” is known from a single complete skull featuring two long curved brow horns, a bony ridge along its nose, and two hooked forms along its frill. It’s an amazing example of the incredible diversity amount this unique group of animals.

The American Kestrel is probably my favorite raptor. It’s our smallest bird of prey and I love seeing them on the wild. I’m really happy with how this painting turned out so I painted a companion piece to accompany it. I was originally going to paint a Microraptor since they are similarly sized, but I wanted their coloration to match. (We actually know what colors Microraptor are because of how well preserved it was, with its pigment cells still present when observed under an electron microscope). So instead I depicted a Bambiraptor, a smaller cousin to Velociraptor from the western United States.

My first digital illustration of 2025!

Ceratosaurus is one of my favorite theropods. They lived alongside the more famous Allosaurus in the Late Jurassic United States. They’re known for the prominent crests on their heads and their oversized teeth. Like, seriously, look up a picture of their skull. It’s nuts. Super underrated dinosaur! I based the coloration off of the Spiny Tailed Iguana, who sport beautiful colored scales.
