Maycember was intense, but these were the little moments in the garden that helped slow things down, even if only for a moment.

Butterflies moving through the garden. Bumble bees tucked into flowers. Ladybugs making themselves at home. Cardinals building nests nearby. Passion vines twisting their way through the heat. Garden harvest updates from clients excited to share the baskets of veggies, fruit, flowers, and herbs they harvested.

These spaces become so much more than something pretty to look at. They become places to gather, harvest, recharge, learn, and reconnect with the natural world right outside the door.

I’m deeply grateful for everyone who trusted me to help shape these spaces this season.

Berdi dreamed of a lush, abundant garden where she could grow food for her family without pesticides and truly enjoy being outside in the space.

Now she’s harvesting daily… strawberries, kale, herbs, beans, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, mints for tea, and greens for smoothies, with so much more still coming in.

One of the sweetest parts has been hearing her brother talk about how the garden brings back memories of their childhood farm in Colombia whenever he comes to visit.

This garden is full in every sense of the word.

Jeannie’s cottage, kitchen, and cut flower gardens are really growing in right now with flowers blooming and veggies and herbs producing everywhere you look.

This check-in was extra sweet because her littles were home and eager to help harvest cucumbers, peppers, basil, kale, and cut flowers. We also planted watermelon and cantaloupe seeds together, talked about why snapdragons are called snapdragons, and spent time observing butterflies and lizards moving through the garden.

These are the kinds of gardens I love helping families create. Beautiful and productive spaces that feel inviting, manageable, and woven naturally into family life. Places where kids wander out to gather veggies and herbs, pick flowers, notice pollinators, and grow in curiosity and wonder alongside the garden itself.

She was away for 10 days and came home to a garden still full of life.

Tomatoes ripening, cucumbers climbing, herbs overflowing, flowers blooming, and very little pest pressure despite heading deeper into the Houston heat.

During our garden check-in, I was able to reassure her that the garden is actually doing really well, trim back some bee balm that had enthusiastically taken over, and help guide what to keep harvesting and what to watch as the season continues shifting.

One of the benefits of having a garden designed and coached with Houston’s seasons in mind is that it can often continue producing longer than people expect. The lush growth and healthy soil in this space are helping extend the season beautifully.

That ongoing support piece is a big part of my work. Not just designing a garden, but helping clients understand what they’re seeing, adjust along the way, and feel more confident caring for their space through each season.

Grateful to have been part of the Movement for Mind conference and expo at .

Thank you to and for so warmly including me in such a thoughtful event focused on movement, wellness, mental health, and self care in the workplace.

I loved getting to lead a mini gardening class and planting session, answer questions during our “Ask the Garden Designer & Coach” garden stroll, visit BP’s onsite garden with participants, and meet several vendors.

Sorry I cannot hear you… I’m kind of busy.

Busy noticing what’s growing.
Busy checking in on a garden we’ve been tending together.
Busy harvesting herbs, watching pollinators, and enjoying how full and alive this space has become.

May might feel a little wild for many of us right now, but stepping into a thriving garden has a way of helping everything slow down for a minute.

A quick planting day with Berdi before the storms rolled in.

These pots from are the highlight. They add so much structure and presence to the garden, and once planted up, everything just feels more complete.

We filled them with magic soil and leaf mold compost to give the flowers a strong start, especially with the rain on the way.

It was a bit of a race against the weather, but it came together so beautifully.

I love layering pieces like this into an already thriving garden. It adds another dimension without taking away from what’s already growing.
