Chances are, if you can put up with being my friend for 20 years. I’ll help you as best I can, and the only way I know how to, is to help you.

Joe has been one of my best friends for almost 2 decades. He’s the friend who comes to my house, digs holes, stretches fence, cut trees, helped with my remodel, pick up my child, change a flat, go help my friends when I can’t, spray my weeds, and the list just goes on.

He doesn’t lie to me or withhold information from me. He never judges my actions and will call me out if do something wrong.

He was a bridesmaid in my wedding, people thought it was weird and I didn’t care. He’s also great friends with my husband.

Joe has been an absolute blessing to me, my family, and my friends. Everybody needs a “Joe” in their life.

Feels good knowing I was able to help contribute to his forever home by giving him the shower and tub he envisioned, and I can’t wait to see it when all the final touches are done!

Y’all it’s been a crazy busy hectic month.. And I feel like I’m still just gettin started 🖤Appreciate all of you 🫶

Jack of all trades!!

Sometimes you really have to watch these fellows. Yea they’re confident. Yes they’ll tell you what sounds logical. Andddd a lot of times they don’t know when to stay in their lane. I’m absolutely not saying they’re all bad, but ya know you gotta watch em 😅

I checked out this bathroom a “jack of all trades” guy started. Then I had to give the homeowners some bad news and inform them I could not work off of what this guy started. I had to tear out brand new drywall and start from scratch and unfortunately they had to pay for it twice.

First, he had used outside drywall corner bead for the inside corners of the walls. Which were not even stuck. And if they’re not stuck to the wall, how is tile supposed to stick to something that isn’t stuck? Logic right? I called multiple other installers and asked if I missed the memo on using outside corner bead as inside corners in a shower. They all said the same. I did in fact not miss the memo, and it’s a hack move.
Second, barley any screws in the drywall. If you sneezed to hard you could see the drywall move against the studs. If the drywall is moving. The tile can be moving. Now granite, he might have had intentions of adding more screws before installation, maybe he ran out, I do like to give a lot of grace.
Third, the niche he “framed” in was only held on by a couple drywall screws. So when I removed those screws, the 2x4’s completely fell out. Oops.
Fourth, multiple bows in the drywall, which was receiving subway tile. Fun fact. Subway tile really likes to highlight any bows in the walls.

I almost wish I could have seen the finished product from the previous person and thanked them for keeping people like me in business. However, I know the homeowners were grateful I was able to come in and get it knocked out and it did not take 7 months.

Quick trip to stl to knock out this lil bathroom for a future rental.

These are my favorite. No niches or shelves (aside from the window). Just a simple 12x24 tile on a prefab shower pan. Can get these done in a couple days and they’re super affordable.

When doing dark tile in a shower make sure that you have a water softener. Then put a water softener on your water softener. It makes sense if you don’t think about it 😅

Niches add a lot more labor, time, and math for an installer. Yes they look real pretty and stuff while giving your shampoo a place to hide all our efforts.

It’s always good to let your installer choose the placement of a niche, a half inch in the wrong spot can be a nightmare. I always try to have good full cuts around my niches and make sure the tile is symmetrical around it. If I show up and there is a hole in the wall already. Well, you kinda get what you get 😬 . Just kidding. I always try my best to fix it. And naturally that extra time never seems to get billed.
