3 hens and 12 poults were foraging today! We are overjoyed to see these turkeys in growing numbers in our farm. They are beneficial in so many ways.
•Did you know wild turkeys are a crucial part of a healthy eco system?
•Turkeys are omnivores. They like seeds, nuts, berries, snails, and insects. Acorns are a favorite food. They also eat small mammals, such as mice and voles.
•The baby wild turkeys are called poults and are able to fly and run shortly after hatching.
•the male wild turkey will help incubate the eggs.
•Turkeys like to eat many bad garden bugs such as stink bugs, grasshoppers, beetles, and snails. Insects contaminated with poisons are harmful to the turkeys.
