A project we are so proud of. 🌹These beautiful red Knockout Roses out front of the Emanuel Medical Hospital were added by our club in 2018. They seem to look more beautiful as time goes on. The absolute best thing about Knock Outs is they’re easy-care for both beginners and experienced gardeners.
Like all roses, Knock Outs need full sun, which is considered 6 or more hours of direct sunlight per day. They will not bloom well in shade. All in all they are super easy to care for. You don’t need to fertilize the first year because the container will have some fertilizer for the season. But in subsequent years, feed with any rose fertilizer as soon as you start to see three to six inches of new growth, then every 4 to 6 weeks after that…Stop fertilizing one to two months before the first expected frost in your area.
Knockout Roses come in many beautiful shades. There are over 10 distinct varieties of Knock Out® roses, featuring a wide color palette that includes cherry red, hot pink, bubble gum pink, white, yellow, coral, and orange. The family includes single and double-flower forms, along with multi-colored options like the Rainbow and Orange Glow varieties.

On Monday (3/9) we met at the Hoopee Homestead Farm Stand which is located at 776 Ohoopee Bnd, Soperton, Ga. off Holton Chapel Rd and not far from Covena/ Palm Beach or Nunez via Hwy 297. We enjoyed Southern Pecan Pie Bites and hot Beard Vet Blueberry Coffee while Donna told us how her Farm Stand dream came about. She explained some of the items she carries in her roadside honor system stand like honey, jams, pickled items, homemade seasonings, fresh eggs from her favorite layers- ducks and chickens, sourdough starter kits, hand made and vintage items, to name a few. She and her husband, Jim, also ethically raise pigs and sell pork cuts.

We then made our way to the homesteads’ mini orchard. Donna pointed out several peach trees, a plum, cherry, fig & pear tree, as well as muscadine.
We ventured onto see the welsh harlequin ducks, chickens and Longhorns. After our time with the animals, we toured the Kitchen Garden and Donna explained her vision, struggles and accomplishments in the garden.
We then made our way back to the Farm Stand to purchase some goodies. Afterwards, us ladies met at D’S Diner in Swainsboro for lunch, which was very enjoyable.

What a great time we had! 🖤If you make your way to the Hoopee Homestead Farm Stand you won’t regret it.
