Thank you to my clients in Port Gibson for this job, and thank you for referring me. This beautiful little church is full of restored grisaille-style stained glass. I was brought in to work on their “newer” kitchen windows. (Newer in comparison to the stained glass)… these windows weren’t in terrible shape, but were over painted and not fully functional. They had asked to get their window stools in better shape - they were worn by the weather, any topcoat degraded or peeling. Windows and jambs were fully stripped and re-done. Hardware cleaned. Stools were refinished, coated with ~6 coats of LE TONKINOIS linseed oil based marine varnish. To reduce its glossyness, the top coat was mixed with “gelomat” - gelomat is an additive that mattes the varnish. (The photos do not reflect the matte finish as the gelomat was just applied) The interior stops were coated with many coats of shellac. I’m happy with the results, this church group can move back in and start cooking meals again. ❤️🪟🪟🪟🪟🪟 if you’re ever passing through Port Gibson, you need to check out United Methodist’s stained glass, it is truly one of a kind.
