Modern frog Majolica reproductions in 1960’s/1970 originated in England & France during the mid to 19th century (circa 1850-1880) Many vintage (1950s- 1970s) and modern productions- frequently made in Italy, Japan, and other Asian countries are widely found in the market today. These beauties were pioneered by European makers, like Minton, George Jones, and Palissy- style artist. Often you will see these whimsical, colorful, frog designs featured resting on Lilly pads or flowers. 19th century majolica is heavy, and has fully glazed colored under sides and will often have a makers mark. Whether faux or a true original; these beautiful pieces are sure to brighten up your garden home and spirit! 🐸
