It is with a heavy heart that I have to post this message. Ed Cox, our Field Operations Manager and 13 year employee of On-line Electric passed away Friday, the 13th of September from complications of a heart attack and bypass surgery. For those who do not know, he had a massive heart attack on July 8th, beat all odds and after multiple surgeries and complications made it back home September 5th. He was happy and wanting to come back to work. All though he had almost no muscle mass or even energy at 130 pounds! He made a bee line to the office insisting that he was ready to come back to work! A few days later he went into Septic Shock and did not defy the odds.
Ed was a character all his own, a very unique individual who really marched to his own beat. He was proud of his Air Force service, his competency as an electrician, and most of all having raised his daughter Brandi as a single father while juggling a way to make a living. He often spoke fondly about how he and his little girl spent days on the road, her on the floor board of a bucket truck, him fixing highway lights, I am sure he will continue to look down and watch over her as he had all those days up in that bucket!
As an employee and friend, Ed was "that guy" who was aways there, he may have griped and complained, but that was just his way - he would have wanted it no different. He was one of the most accomplished electricians I have ever known (and I have known more than my fair share) and he could figure out pretty much any challenge. He ran his division like no other; completing every task handed to him and complaining about it the whole time! But on the end of the day, he succeeded.
He is survived by his daughter Brandi, son-in-law Cody, and his beloved dog Cartman. Preceded in death by his sidekick and best friend "Snoop", his companion (dog) for 15 years.
I wish I could close this with an Ed joke, but they were always so bad, I just can't recall one.... Rest in peace my friend.
