Prepping and Learning from Hurricane Milton

Prepping and Learning from Hurricane Milton I am the leader of a household and want to share experiences to better prepare for a bad day.

First topic…Generators!

Something I learned about my generator system, I own a dual fuel (gasoline/ propane) genny and was surprised how quickly it burns through propane under a medium load.

For the sake of maintenance, I always use propane because it’s easier to set up / clean up afterwards. Propane for me, is very easy to store and keep on hand Vs gasoline, which tends to become quite scarce in an emergency situation. But I will modify my preparations to include 20+ gallons of ethanol free gas with fuel stabilizer/conditioner.

Created this page 5 days after the landfall of Hurricane Milton. Learned about the flaws of my original “Bug-In” plan in the event of a category rated hurricane. I was fortunate to be a part of a solid group of men in the neighborhood to organize supplies and coordinate efforts to clear properties. Very blessed to know there are still people out there that don’t lose their s**t when the world gets reset.
