Erika Kirk says submission is not a dirty word, yet she is now leading Turning Point USA as its CEO.

So which is it?

Are women meant to be stained-glass windows whose value depends on the man holding up the frame? Or are women capable of leading, building, surviving grief, and finding purpose outside of marriage?

Because she cannot demand that every other woman shrink herself into a husband’s shadow while she steps into the spotlight to run a national organization.

Women are not useless without men. They are not shattered when a marriage ends. And they do not need permission to have a life, a voice, or a purpose of their own.

Just a reminder that black lives matter

In 1938, a Black dentist in Savannah built himself a fine two story home on Victory Drive, back when a Black man owning a house like that on a street like that was a statement all by itself. 🏛️

Dr. Nathaniel Collier and his wife Nancy made it more than a house. It became a gathering place, where folks met for social and educational events during the hard years of segregation. Later it passed to Janie Toomer, who was Savannah's first African American woman to work as a real estate broker, so the home carries two Black firsts under one roof. ✊🏾

It has sat empty since 2016, and in 2024 the owner went to the city trying to rezone it and tear it down. Neighbors spoke up and stopped that vote, but the house still has no historic protection and could still be lost. Do you have a house in your family or your neighborhood that everybody knows the story of, even if there is no plaque on it? 🕯️
