Have you stopped by this little Farmstand in Thorndike?

If you have, please tell us what you have purchased, how you liked (or didn’t like) what you have purchased, what you wish to see in here in the future and if there is anything we can do to improve or make things easier!

We have only been open for a little over a month, so it is a learning curve but we are so thrilled with the amount of support so far and your honest input will only help us to improve if anything is needing improvement!

We would also love to hear where you are from so we know how far people are traveling to come see us! I know of a few that have traveled quite a distance just to check us out!

Please comment your thoughts on this thread - I will be sharing this in many places to ensure people see!

A little backstory and history about the apples!

A 10 minute drive through the area produced 10 different varieties of heirloom apples along the way. These apple crisps have been made with three varieties, Duchess of Oldenburg, Red Astrachan, and Haynes Sweet.

Duchess of Oldenburg is a very old variety that originates back to Russia, and was imported to the United States in 1835 by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. A Pale yellow apple with deep red striping, known for its Tart, juicy flavor. Also imported the same year by the Society was the Red Astrachan which originated from Sweden. This crimson red apple has pink streaked flesh that is very aromatic. The Haynes Sweet originates back to a single seedling tree grown in Swanville. Recognized in 1900 as an unique Non-European locally originated Maine seedling by the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station. A true Waldo county unique heirloom variety!
