This homeowner called us for fence replacement in Luckey, Ohio after noticing their vinyl fence posts were starting to lean.

That is usually the point where people assume the WORST. The fence looks crooked, the posts are shifting, and it feels like the only option is to START OVER.

But if your fence is leaning, it does not always mean you need to replace the whole thing.

After inspecting the fence, we found that the vinyl panels were still in excellent condition. They were straight, clean, and had plenty of life left in them.

So instead of recommending a full fence replacement, we suggested removing the existing fence sections, resetting the posts, and reinstalling the same panels.

That is the kind of recommendation we make every day. If something can be repaired properly, we will tell you. There is no reason to replace perfectly good fence panels just because the posts have started to move.

Once everything is reinstalled, the fence will sit three to four inches above the ground and look the way it should.

Here is the truth about old wood fences! ⚖️

Most of them do not actually fail during big storms. They fail quietly, after years of the weather slowly beating them down.

During this wood fence inspection in Toledo, we saw that deveral boards have started developing a green, mossy film along the surface.

That happens when moisture keeps returning to the same sections of wood and the boards never get a chance to fully dry out.

Driveway runs like this are especially vulnerable because snow gets shoveled against the fence all winter, and the melt water just sits right along the base of the boards.

Over time, the wood begins holding that moisture, and that is when the moss and algae move in.

Then there is also the alignment issue in this fence.

The fence line is leaning slightly along the driveway. It is subtle, but you can see the line starting to drift. That usually tells us the posts underground have been shifting after years of those Ohio freeze and thaw cycles.

Can a bent aluminum fence panel get worse over time?
Yes, and this is a great example of how it starts. 👆🏼

During this aluminum fence inspection in Maumee, Ohio, we found a panel with a bent picket and a bottom rail that was beginning to bow outward.

The rest of the fence was still straight, which made the damaged section even more noticeable. When aluminum fencing is hit or pushed out of shape, the metal holds that stress.

We recently inspected this chain link fence in Findlay, Ohio, and while it was technically still upright, the metal had become heavily rusted and extremely brittle.
At this stage, chain link fencing loses a lot of its strength.
