I recently had the pleasure of completing this staircase project. The customer originally had a spiral staircase and were looking for easier access to this loft space. With a tight area and a window that was just a little bit in the way it was a fun challenge. Another challenge was figuring out how to make the island float so we ended up making the top stringer and the outer framing of the landing a solid unit using several layers of wood along with metal to create truss like strength.

I’ve been having a lot of staircases come my way lately and I feel lucky for that because they are a lot of fun. This one was right down the road from my house which made it even better. That last photo shows how desperately this house needed some new stairs. The 42 year old glue had failed and somebody was bound to find themselves taking the express route to the basement sooner or later. Thankfully we got the stairs replaced and this homeowner no longer has to tip toe their way up and down the stairs.
