We are making some changes here at Untethered Enterprises LLC! We now offer planning consultation for municipal government entities and developers. We utilize our expertise in urban planning, architectural design, site planning, shoreline restoration, and landscape design to address the complex challenges of developing a site. We also can assist communities through the Redevelopment Ready Certification process. We take a holistic approach to zoning amendments, zoning rewrites, and site plan review to assist our clients in accomplishing their goals and the needs of their community. We aim to create resilience, healthy and sustainable communities for Northwest Michigan.

This has been one of my favorite experiences I have had professionally. I have had the educational opportunity to work on the historical restoration of the over the last few months. This is made possible by working with . This amazing structure was built in 1857. It is an architectural history buffs dream to see the building exposed like this for the first time in over 150+ years. We have restored historic windows, frames walls, helped to install structural beams (the first photo is right before we moved in the beam that will sure up that wall.. it was BIG). There are also photos of the original turn buckle system that was utilized to help tilt the panels into place. The entire structure is build with a beam system that allowed the exterior panels to be attached to. It is an amazing structural system cut out of raw lumber on site. You can see the marks from the axes that honed the columns and beams when it was built. Simply gorgeous to behold cut marks of a previous generation of carpenters that constructed this building. I’m so grateful to be part of this buildings next phase of life and service. One small moment of joy among many was seeing that the hardware for the historic windows smiles at you 😁 all good vibes in this space.

The painting is finished! Our client is so happy with their new exterior colors. It stands out in the best way possible from the surrounding buildings. The first image is the before. We replaced the beige for a lovely grey, the trim is now charcoal instead of blue, and we used red for the accent color. See the new paint selection on Garfield Ave at Bodamer Brother Carpet Plus.

We got some hands on experience this weekend. We designed and installed a pergola that will grow grapes. The barrels shown are repurposed wine barrels that will be used as raised beds. They will be complimented nicely by the grapes growing around them and will hint toward their previous purpose. We used metal joinery for simplicity during installation. They also compliment the metal from the barrels well. The pergola is constructed out of natural cedar so that there are no chemicals leaching into the food. We utilized a simple detail on the ends of each beam and rafter to give it a clean, Japanese inspired finish. It is always fun to get out of the office and build something with your hands. The weather was amazing too!

We are taking away the yellow and bringing in the grey! We are so excited to see the paint going on the walls and trim over at Bodamer Brothers Flooring. This tired yellow siding with blue trim was in desperate need of an update. We selected a color scheme of grey base, black trim and red accent that will really make it their building stand out from the sea beige surrounding it. It will bring a fresh and modern look to their store front. Keep an eye out for updates once the red accents go on 🤩

The murals are up, the inspections have been passed, the doors are open and there are people in line. One happy client. It was awesome to see the space today with people in it! It was a joy to work on. Congrats CuTea Boba on you grand opening! Go check them out. It’s delicious!

Today is a huge day!!!!

Today is the first day I truly can see the boba shop coming together. Elizabeth and Jeffrey you all have been so helpful and I truly can’t say how much I appreciate you all. Brian and Kimberly you all have gotten us so far with your help and positivity. Can’t wait to have you both up here for the grand opening. AJ getting us out of a metal works pinch worked perfectly. Sue for the support with family and keeping me on track.

Our first steps were with Untethered Enterprises LLC and the knowledge and willingness to help us get started from scratch on the biggest venture I’ve ever taken under.

Reichard and Hack both of the support you have shown us throughout the years and helping us secure this spot and got us in contact with an amazing plumber Plumbers Pride (Pat). Electrical done by Tom rocking it out for us and following through even when on vacation.

We are finally getting close and I can see what I hope is the end of the build out process.

Also High Voltage Action Sports/Friction Stoppers for the most unique delivery vehicle for between the two businesses!

The support from QT Nails and Quyen over these last few months and honestly since the day I tricked her into marrying me has been amazing. Let’s keep this rolling and this momentum can’t be stopped.

The certificate came in the mail! It is official. After months of studying and hands-on training in the field we are certified to restore inland lake and river shorelines. We cannot wait to put this to use to benefit the health of our precious lakes, rivers and wetland areas. They provide us with so much beauty, life, and abundance. It’s time to give back to them as much as they give to us. Reciprocity through design.

We completed our Michigan Natural Shoreline Professional Certification today with a shoreline restoration down in Paw Paw, MI. We restored 65ft of eroding shoreline on Maple Isle. It was amazing to learn hands-on how to install this type of bioengineering. We are excited to use this as a tool while designing lakefront homes and the surrounding landscape for our clients. The Grand Traverse region in such a beautiful area. We design to mitigate the impact our structure will have on the surrounding natural beauty as much as possible. This is a great new method to address that.

The sign is up! We helped to get drawing done in just a few weeks through a great collaboration of client, designer, and architect. It was awesome to help issue these drawings for our client and get them back on track to open in June. I can’t wait to swing in and get a tea soon.
