American Wood Flags

American Wood Flags Handcrafted in Trussville, Alabama — created with care and a love for the craft. One American flag at a time. Every piece is cut, burned, and finished by hand.

American Wood Flags is a small shop in Trussville, Alabama where I hand-build wooden American flags one at a time. I started making flags simply because I enjoyed it — and people liked the way they turned out. No mass production. No shortcuts. If you’re looking for a custom wooden American flag for your home, office, or as a gift, I’d be honored to build one for you. 🇺🇸

Seven steps. Six to eight hours. One flag.

Most evenings I'm out in the garage — cutting the boards down, staining each stripe, stenciling the stars in the canton, then sealing everything with Polycrylic so it holds up for years.

There's no fast version of this. And I don't want one.

The 6–8 hours is kind of the whole point. You can feel it when you hold one.

What part of the build are you most curious about? 🇺🇸

This one's ready for a wall.

Every flag is built to order, by hand — about 4 weeks from your "yes" to your wall. 3-foot handcrafted wood American flag: real hardwood, hand-stained, hand-painted, signed by me. $349, free shipping.

Because I build one at a time, the calendar fills up. Want one? Comment "MINE" or send me a message and I'll get you on the build list.

July 4th is 13 days away — and I'm giving away a handcrafted wood flag on that date.

If you've been thinking about building your own flag someday, here's how you get entered: grab the free build plan at americanwoodflags.com/free-build-plan/. That's it. You'll get the PDF delivered to your inbox, and your name goes in for the July 4th drawing.

I built my first flag because I wanted something real hanging in my garage — not a piece of plastic made overseas. These are solid wood, hand-cut, and finished right here in Trussville, Alabama. Every one of them takes 6–8 hours to build.

Winner gets announced July 4th. Drawing is random. No purchase necessary, no strings attached.

If you've got someone in mind who'd love a flag like this — a veteran, a dad, a grandparent who'd cry happy tears — share this post and let them get in too.

Happy Father's Day to every dad out there.

If your dad's the kind of guy who loves his country, his family, and things built to last — those are exactly the men I'm thinking about when I'm out in the garage building these flags.

3-foot handcrafted wood flag, made one plank at a time by a guy in Alabama who takes it seriously. Whenever you're ready for one, it'll be here.

But today — just go enjoy your dad.

Want to know where that deep, smoky color comes from? A torch — by hand, board by board.

Burning the wood first makes the grain jump out, so no two flags ever look the same.

Which finish do you like better — charred and bold, or soft and rustic? 👇

Want the exact plan I use to build these flags? It's free.

Cut list, the lumber I buy, how I stain the stripes, stencil and spray-paint the 50 stars, and seal it with poly so it lasts. The whole process, written down.

Comment GUIDE 👇 and I'll send it your way — you'll also be entered in my July 4th flag giveaway.

I'm Jonathan. One man, one garage, in Trussville, Alabama.

I started building these because I wanted something real — something heavy, something a grandkid might point at one day and ask about. Every flag carries a little of that. Thanks for letting me share it.

Step 1: Cut the planks to length.
Step 2: Sand everything smooth.
Step 3: Torch the surface for texture.
Step 4: Stain the stripes.
Step 5: Stencil and spray-paint the stars.
Step 6: Seal it with poly.
Step 7: Assemble.

About 6-8 hours of work. Zero shortcuts.

This is why it takes 4 weeks. This is why it's worth it.

Before it's a flag, it's a pile of raw boards, a torch, and a quiet morning in the garage.

No machines stamping these out — just me, one board at a time. Honestly, this part is my favorite.

Father's Day is coming up — and a tie isn't going to cut it this year.

3-foot handcrafted American wood flag. Built by hand in Alabama. Dad hangs it in his office, his garage, his living room — and every single person who sees it asks where he got it.
