It's a pleasure for Druid City Arborists to volunteer and help support the Kentuck Art Center. They are an amazing cultural hub in historic downtown Northport. Their festival, the Kentuck Art Festival, has 10 to 15 thousand people show up to it every year in October to see hundreds of artists from around the world. A lot of those artists we are blessed to have right here in Alabama. We are thrilled to climb in and care for Kentuck's lovely trees in their shaded courtyard that is filled with art and artists. The owner of Druid City Arborists and his friend Jeremy Crosby, back in 2007, built an earthen pizza oven in this courtyard and they have baked pizzas using that oven for over 15 years. The waste wood pruned from these trees will be used to bake pizzas over the coming months at one of the Kentuck Art Center's regular events, Art Night, occurring every first Thursday of the month. We are honored that the Kentuck Art Center has entrusted us to care for their lovely trees to ensure they will be around for future generations.

We love it when one client can benefit another client. Druid City Arborists got notified by one of our clients that unfortunately they wanted their 'Fuyu' Oriental Persimmon removed since it never did well due to an abundance of shade. There wasn't another good spot in their yard where it could be transplanted. But, only about a week ago we had another client that sadly had one of their plum trees die and they were hoping to replant with an Oriental Persimmon one day. We were able to make these connections and transplant this persimmon from one yard to another. This persimmon has been in the ground for a number of years and it can always be uncertain whether they will survive the transplantation process. Hopefully in a year's time we will see if the tree survived or not. The new owner of the tree did promise a couple of persimmons to the previous owner so hopefully for everyone's benefit the tree will be a productive and happy tree.

We at Druid City Arborists always strive to preserve trees where it is possible. Unfortunately, not every tree is safe to have around your home. Click through these pictures to discover why this tree had to be climbed, dismantled, and removed.

We are happy to report that the stem wood will be sawed into red oak slabs to be used in future woodworking projects.

Invasive species can be some of the most difficult tree care challenges people face at their homes. At this client's home we had English ivy that had taken over this Carolina Cherry-Laurel. Druid City Arborists freed the tree from the ivy, removed the competing branches that were growing onto the dogwood in the front yard, and pruned the tree to gain clearance from the house.
