In honor of yesterday being the first day of spring, check out a few of my favorite spring blooming wildflowers 🌞

These beauties are often overlooked, tucked away in the woods on the forest floor. Spring ephemerals bloom at the same time as our native insects are first emerging and searching for food sources- nature’s complex relationships are neat to learn about!

Can’t wait to discover new hiking spots in Missouri this year!

Native Container Gardens for sale! 🪴

Container gardening with native plants is a totally new practice for me, and finding combinations that 1) compliment and coexist with each other 2) maintain a formal appearance, and 3) make it possible to include native plants in situations where space is limited is so neat! The ones I have pictured are great decor on my front porch, stairs, and deck! 🪴

These are also native perennials which means they can overwinter outside and will come back year after year, saving you from buying annuals every season.

Pictured Species:

#1 Rock Garden: Prickly Pear Cactus and 3 Fame Flower

#2 Full Sun Pollinator Faves: Purple Coneflower, Star Coreopsis, Purple Poppy Mallow, Mexican Hat, and Blanket Flower

#3 Formal Part Shade: Ostrich Fern, Purple Coneflower, Mist Flower, Columbine, and Southern Blue Flag Iris

#4 Rock Garden: Prickly Pear, Silky Aster, and 2 Fame Flower

#5 Rock Garden: Prickly Pear, Stonecrop Sedum, Silky Aster

*Prices vary from $30-$60, depending on number of species and cost of supplies. Message for prices or to create a personalized container!

🌿Quick introduction/background: My name is Vivian aka the owner! Wild Blooms Co. was established last year with the intent to bring attention to the importance of native gardening and to inspire ecological restoration practices at the local level.

My background is in ecological restoration and I am currently a native horticulturist at Shaw Nature Reserve, dedicating my career to managing Missouri’s resources and hoping to help and inspire others to take action. I continue to expand my business- what was once a casual hobby of growing plants has undeniably developed into a nursery, as I currently am growing over 100 different species of plants. I also offer my landscape experience to create aesthetically pleasing yards that inspire others while supporting pollinators and other wildlife. 🐝
