Giving back has always been personal for us.
Dena Taylor, President of ArchSpec, recently volunteered at a Block Kids event in Waco, Texas, supported by the National Association of Women in Construction. Block Kids is a hands on building program for students in 1st through 6th grade, where participants design and construct a project using simple materials, creativity, and independent thinking, without adult assistance.
The purpose of the Block Kids program is simple and meaningful. It introduces children to construction concepts and careers at an early age, reinforces STEM and problem solving skills through hands on building, and helps break down gender stereotypes by encouraging both girls and boys to see themselves as builders and problem solvers.
Supporting programs like this is something Dena genuinely cares about. It reflects a belief that early exposure and encouragement can shape confidence, curiosity, and future opportunity. At ArchSpec, we believe showing up for efforts like Block Kids is one way to invest in the future of the industry we care deeply about.
