It all started in a Physics of Energy class at College of the Atlantic, when I engineered and built a parabolic water heater. It worked okay (considering I built it with scrap-wood, pvc and copper piping and a space blanket) but more importantly it sparked a life-long love of renewable energy. Today, I live in an
off-the-grid, passive-solar saltbox with 3 kids, and all the mod-cons. I proved--when I built it in 2001--that building a high-performance home doesn't have to break the bank! Sustainable Structures is where the two paths cross. I apply my passion, communication skills, experience and certifications to make your building or building project--more comfortable, safe, and efficient. Sustainable Structures is a Building Performance Consulting company. I find, diagnose, and can fix problems in buildings, related to comfort, efficiency, indoor air quality and durability. I work with builders, architects, designers, and HVAC companies, as well as residential and small-commercial building owners.
