Light returns.

Inside the greenhouse, thousands of plants are already growing and preparing for spring. Hanging baskets are beginning to fill out, young plants are gaining strength, and the season is quietly coming to life.

Out in the tree lot we’ve begun moving trees from their winter storage areas back into their display rows.

The wind has been fierce this week, and a hard cold snap is on the way. Many trees across eastern Indiana and western Ohio have already started to bud, so the coming cold may cause some early spring damage in the landscape.

That’s part of gardening in the Midwest.

Inside the greenhouse though, the season keeps moving forward.

"What do you do with all the plants during winter?" Here's a sneak peak!

ALL of the trees from our four tree lots are packed tightly together and then covered in a mountain of mulch and sawdust to keep their roots warm during the colder months! The perennials and shrubs are tucked away nicely into our 11 hoop houses on the property. The houses are covered with plastic and turn into a warm sauna that the plants (& our staff) love during the winter! ❄️
