Since 2021, spotted lanternfly (SLF) has been a growing concern in central Ohio. To slow down the spread of SLF, the Ohio Department of Agriculture issued a state-wide quarantine on February 17th, 2026, to limit the movement of trees and nursery stock moving out of Ohio.

The spotted lanternfly is an invasive insect that is becoming a growing concern in Central Ohio. First discovered in Pennsylvania in 2014, the pest has continued spreading into nearby states and threatens agriculture, forests, gardens, and neighborhoods throughout Ohio.

Removing a decayed and hazardous locust tree at Ohio Wesleyan University! To minimize turf impact, we used ground protection mats on our grapple truck and used a lighter spider-lift with outrigger pads.
