Final thoughts on the reselling of the dragon eggs. As many of the other orders are scheduled to deliver today and tomorrow, I fully expect to see more resales posted. While I don’t love it, those who bought their fair share and waited just like everyone else are entitled to do what they would like with their purchases. You are also entitled to pay or not pay what they are asking. Supply versus demand will always determine value in the secondary markets. Reselling is not the same as scalping which is what I tried to prevent with all the anti-bot measures on my site. I already know the culprits who played my heartstrings to just in turn sell their orders. Resellers already have a bad rap and it’s because of people like this that this stereotype exists. I am NOT mad or upset with every single person who decides to resell these because being a reseller means you can still be a decent person.

I hope everyone getting their orders this week is thrilled to finally have their eggs. Keep following the page for more updates in the coming week. ❤️

Reminder: smoke and smoke carnival orders were PRE-ORDERS for an OCTOBER fulfillment. I do not have these eggs yet. They are still on their way to me.

I feel like I need to clarify a bit on my stance for reselling. I understand both sides. Supply vs demand will always dictate the market. It does make me sad to see not all collectors able to obtain these at a reasonable price but that is the reality of it when quantity is so limited. There are less than 600 of each color of the original dragon eggs in existence. That’s not a lot. And while I do still have stock, it is being held until all orders are RECEIVED in the event of breakage replacements.

My feelings are not based on each person who resells these but rather it stems from a handful of people. These were people who had messaged or emailed me about how sad they were that they missed out and I created special manual orders for them even though I was technically out of stock. These were people who reached out to me to tell me how they were so excited the eggs were in and can I try to prioritize their order for their child’s birthday, so I mailed them theirs first. These were people who claimed to be my biggest fans, hardcore collectors, and were just so excited to have my designs. These were people I went above and beyond for. And within an hour of their package being received, they were up on eBay or some other marketplace. These were people who actively deceived me and this is why so many people hate resellers: because of people like them.

You can think what you want about how I feel. This is still my art, my product, and my passion project. You are entitled to your opinions. I am entitled to my feelings.

I want to take a moment to discuss upsell/resell of the Dragon Eggs. First, I feel I should say that I myself am a reseller in the vintage world which is how I came to know about WhatNot and meet my fabulous channel managers and many of my other wholesalers. I have used WhatNot myself under Thrifty CT Vintage and More, my parent LLC, as well as having booths in multiple locations in CT. Resale is a business and a lot of work goes into sourcing, cleaning and repairing, moving goods to and from locations, displaying, and marketing. You have overhead like your time, gas, and rent. The margins are usually tiny and very few people who do booth vending do it as their primary source of income. Most do it for pocket change or strictly because they simply find it enjoyable.

As a reseller, I am also a wholesaler for companies like Rose’s Closet and Mosser. They make new products that are vintage inspired. I’m always transparent about what my products are but these also sell well for me. Wholesale allows manufacturers to move a lot of product even though it is at discounted prices.

As Olsen Glass, I do not make a lot of products. Quantities of each item so far have been made at under 1000. I have kept my wholesale chain very exclusive and limited to how much my wholesalers are even allowed to have of my products. Wholesalers are still buying the products with the intention of making a profit on them. When they do, it supports my business by having them reach a wider audience than I would alone and keeps my warehouse’s inventory moving so I can continue to make new and great stuff.

When people I sell to who I assume are collectors IMMEDIATELY list their dragon eggs on eBay, Facebook, Mercari, WhatNot, etc… for more than 3x the price of what they paid- I’m not going to lie, that makes me upset. Mainly because I still have inventory. If these were sold out and I was never going to make them again, that would be a completely different situation of supply versus demand. But I still have dragon eggs. I, the creator and designer, still want to sell these. I’ve announced it multiple times. I may still make more of these which means there will be future opportunities to buy direct from me for a reasonable price.

Ultimately, it’s your money and your decision who you choose to support. I went through the effort to design and produce a great product to build *my* company- not make other people rich. Wholesale is officially closed now and no further applications will be accepted. I am taking notice of names who I see reselling who are not wholesalers. I have gone above and beyond trying so hard to get my products directly into the hands of collectors for a fair price. It’s very demoralizing to see those who I felt would be so excited to get their eggs immediately put them up for sale. This was my first product launch and I’ve learned so much about how I want to run my business. I plan to constantly iterate and improve along the way.

Thank you to those who have supported me thus far. I would not have made it here without you. I appreciate your support and hope you will love your dragon eggs.

So this is the thing about being a very small business. You get to choose who you have business dealings with. Money is not everything and there is a price you can put on peace. And if someone is incredibly rude and vile to you, there is a point where the customer is not always right and you can just decide that doing business with them is not worth it. I consider myself a patient person and I understand it was a big ask for folks to wait upwards of 3.5 months for an order to be fulfilled. 99.9999% of folks who reached out with status request updates did so with kindness and I thank you for that. For those who chose to belittle me, insult me, or question how I choose to run my own business - your orders have been cancelled and fully refunded and our business relationship has ended.
