Chips are an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to maximizing the value of small diameter trees. The parts of a log that don’t make a good pole or nice firewood are sent over to the chipper then up to this storage bin. When the bin is full, we sell truckloads of chips to a paper mill, where they are turned into paper and cardboard. Who knows maybe your next delivery box might include a bit of Wallowa County forest restoration wood!?!

All of our bark, sawdust, and little pieces of wood get collected using a system of conveyors and chains then used in our boiler to make heat for our kilns and production building.

Gotta love some fall colors around the mill.

This is what forest restoration and fire mitigation work looks like- small logs selectively removed to keep the forest healthy. We need more of this!
Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this catastrophic fire season and for all the forest lost.

Great to see more of our poles hit the Yakima Valley!

Heartwood poles are made from East side Doug Fir and Larch, making them denser, stronger, and naturally more rot resistant, and we’re confident they’ll last longer than a treated post when wrapped with ROTBLOC.

Harvest is on which means the time to trellis is just around the corner, if you need poles get in touch with us!

We love a good campfire, we sell a lot of bundled firewood, and every bundle we sell supports forest restoration- but please remember to burn responsibly! Fire danger is on the rise across the West and the season is just beginning.

This is what forest restoration looks like. Before thinning, you couldn’t even see the old growth larch in the middle because the forest was so dense, and if a fire had come through every tree would have burned to the ground. Now that the restoration work is done, the big trees like the larch will survive a fire and live on to seed the next generation.
