Since I have just started this Business Page, not being new to the industry though, I thought I would write a little about me!
I have been around the construction industry my whole life. “you were two days old when you went to my first job site” my mom likes to say when I ask her. You see, growing up my dad built custom Victorian houses. After falling off one to many steep pitched roofs my dad decided to get into the home design business. Take your child to work day consisted of me coloring in blue prints. So it wasn’t to out there for me to get into the trade. Although I tried to fight it in college by going into the restaurant industry, it was only a matter of time before the urge to get a hammer in my hand returned. In the spring of 2017 I quit my restaurant manager job and started framing houses. After framing for a couple years, an opportunity came up for me to completely makeover a hotel that was built in 1907 in Apalachicola, FL, I jumped at the chance. Little did I know what I would get from this experience. In no time I was learning more about building and renovating than I ever thought I could. But alas, the renovation was complete on the hotel. Luckily, my boss had an opening to help build large format resort style beach homes. We would take raw land and build custom multi million dollar homes for him to rent on his vacation rental business.
After doing this for a couple years, and seeing how much these people were charging for the workmanship that they offered, it was time for another change. It was time to start my own business. I wanted to create a business model where workmanship was at the forefront while not trying to make a million dollars off of every job. Thus, Handy Andy was born.
Just recently, my beautiful wife and I with our two kids in tow have recently moved back to Walterboro, SC so we could be closer to family. I am looking forward to implementing my business model here in the low country one happy customer at a time.
