"Capturing Joy: The Playful Spirit of Ellie the Great Dane"

Meet Ellie, the unforgettable Great Dane who brought endless joy to my cousin's family life. From the moment Ellie bounded into our lives, she exuded a playful personality that left everyone she met with a smile. Even as she grew older, Ellie never lost that spark of puppiness that made her truly special. She was a gentle giant with a heart full of love, always ready for a game of fetch or a cuddle session on the couch. Remarkably, Ellie lived to the age of 12, a testament to her vibrant spirit and the loving care she received—a milestone that's quite extraordinary for a Great Dane.

When I set out to create a portrait of Ellie, my goal was to capture that joyful essence that defined her. I chose to work with graphite on 100% Cotton Bristol paper, a material that ensures the artwork will stand the test of time. The portrait is realistic in style, emphasizing Ellie's expressive eyes and her playful demeanor. To complement the artwork, I framed it using a floating mount under glass with a simple black frame. This modern look enhances the portrait's elegance and allows it to seamlessly blend with any decor.

Creating this portrait was a labor of love, a way to honor Ellie's memory and the happiness she brought to those around her. As I sketched, I felt her spirit guiding my hand, reminding me of the importance of capturing life's joyful moments.

Sew excited to get started on Block 2 of the Haberdashery block of the month quilt. This one has eight fabrics. I'll get started on cutting this one later today.

This is the second option I created of the Beating Hearts quilt. I used fabrics leftover from a quilt I previously made. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to make the 9 blocks required for this quilt. My solution was to create a center focus block from some of the other fabrics I had. It will make a cute wall hanging or baby quilt.

Beating Heart top is all assembled and ready for the long arm. Maybe this coming weekend. I have one ahead of this one. Looking forward to completing this little project.
