Last week we gathered to sketch the exterior of the Folger Shakespeare Library. This week you've a chance to see the exquisite and rarely seen reading room!

This Sunday, as part of their annual Shakespeare birthday celebration, the Folger is hosting tours of this fantastic Elizabethan space. Festivities start at noon with regular tours. We recommend arriving early to beat the crowds (and get the best people-free photos). This breath-taking interior is one of DC's best kept secrets. Don't miss it! More information on the Folger's event at the link below.

Our parent chapter is hosting a lunchtime tour of one of French-American architect Paul Cret's masterpieces - The Folger Shakespeare Library! If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing this masterful marriage of Stripped Classicism and Art Deco in person - and even if you have - this tour is not to be missed!

L'Enfants members can obtain tickets for only $10.

Join the ICAA for an exclusive inside lunchtime tour of the Folger Shakespeare Library on Wednesday, June 21. Today's American Classicist owes a lot to the preservation movement, as a result of which many fine examples of traditional architecture have been maintained for generations to admire and study. What a fantastic timeline chronicling the preservation movement in the US!

This interactive timeline helps you explore the history of historic preservation, archaeology, and public history in the United States of America.

Looking to usher in Halloween a little more architecturally? Our parent chapter is holding a tour of Congressional Cemetery Sunday, October 30. Often overlooked, even the most common cemeteries brim with beautiful and moving design. See the link below for more information.

Join historian Jeff Trinca on a Halloween Tour exploring the more architectural side of Congressional Cemetery on Sunday, October 30th at 2pm for approximately 2 hours.

Highlights will include the graves of notable Washingtonian Architects interred at the cemetery including William Thornton and George Hadfield (architects of the Capitol), Robert Mills (Washington Monument, Treasury, east wing of the White House amongst others), and Joseph Bruff (architectural designer of numerous treasury buildings). Also see the prototypical burial markers designed by Benjamin Latrobe to commemorate high ranking government officials. Please wear comfortable walking shoes as the paths are rugged. Tour will take place rain or shine. There is plenty of street parking alongside the main entrance at 1801 E Street SE where we will begin the tour promptly at 2pm.
