Kilic Ali Pasha, Italian born Ottoman Admiral, commissioned this project to Sinan the great in 1580. After studying Haifa Sofia, Sinan brought the same structural geometry to ensure longevity of the building. The calligraphy work is exquisite.

Accessible slanted roof planes are being used obviously by public. However at Oslo’s peak season it still feels empty. Without support of retail and other uses a plaza can be used so much. I wonder the conditions in winter. Much smaller roof access would be sufficient. Inside the opera house is much more successful from design point of view. Concrete columns are thickened in the middle expressing the structural design against bulging. The theater is differentiated from the skin with a solid wood clad wood with the right scale and variety. @ Opera House, Oslo Harbour, Norway, North Sea
