We are excited to announce the NOMA Alethia Tanner Park pavilion will soon be home to Tommy's Tacos, a new concept by Houston-based chef Thomas Stacy. Tommy's Tacos will be the first-of-its-kind partnership in D.C., being structured to allocate a portion of every sale to be directly reinvested into the maintenance and operation of Alethia Tanner Park. Stay tuned for the grand opening date set for later this year!

: This comprehensive renovation for Arlington Public Schools converted an existing 55,000-square-foot municipal building into a state-of-the-art high school annex. The project expands to the capacity of the current Washington-Liberty High School on the same campus. The project provided flexible space for the school system. Programming includes workout space, wet lab space, breakout rooms, office space, alterations to the building envelope, and replacement glazing systems.

Studio 27 has officially transformed a vacant manufacturing site into a progressive new K-8 campus for Philip’s Academy Charter School of Paterson (PACS) in Paterson, New Jersey. This new facility brings together a previously dispersed community of 660 students under one roof, fostering a cohesive environment for learning, growth, and innovation. It’s not just about providing a building; it’s about creating a nurturing space where underserved youth can thrive academically and socially.

Monument Academy Public Charter School is a weekday boarding school with a mission to empower students, particularly those who have experienced significant adversity - including involvement or risk of involvement in child welfare and/or other social services systems - with the requisite academic, social, emotional, and life skills to be successful in college, career, and community. The school is based on five pillars: small class sizes with personalized education, social and emotional well-being services, life skills, a consistent adult connection, and stability. Students live in single-gender family-style homes with a Student Life Advisors couple.

After completing three phases of renovations on the existing school building, in 2018, Studio 27 was tasked with designing a new “outdoor classroom” to add a flexible space to the school with a close connection to the outdoors. Originally envisioned as an “art shed,” this new stand-alone classroom was designed with durability and playfulness as guiding design principles. The plywood interior walls, whimsically punched window openings, and pendant lighting provide a welcoming learning environment where students don’t have to be afraid to get messy.

The Chapman Coal Company Garage and Stable is an important surviving building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It represents a significant contribution to the broad patterns of national history. It embodies distinctive characteristics of early 20th-century life in Washington, DC, when the automobile began to replace the horse and buggy as the standard mode of transportation.

Chapman Stables has received a Housing Award from . The AIA Architecture Award program celebrates the best contemporary architecture regardless of budget, size, style, or type. At the same time, the AIA Housing Award recognizes the best in home design, showcasing how beauty, safety, sustainability, and comfort can come together.

Rincon Bates Residence - This project furthers Studio Twenty Seven Architecture’s exploration of sustainable urban residential design. The original 1906 house represents the archetype of single-family dwelling units in the city. The house had been renovated in the early 1970’s, but the interior space remained a series of compartmentally programmed rooms.

The owners approached us with an open-ended request, with stipulations to reconfigure the circulation pattern as well as a thoughtful consideration of the ecological impact of the project. The scope of work evolved through an investigation of sectional manipulations focusing on apertures, daylight, and natural ventilation.

The stairs become primary arteries when moving 600 students through a five-story building. The Washington Liberty HS renovation of a 1968 municipal building hollowed out space for a new dynamic stair that increased capacity, connection, and flows through the levels.
