Our carefully planned irrigation system had failed due to power outage early on during our vacation. The plants had survived but distressed. They produced more to pass on their genetic material. These peas are going into my daughter’s recipe tonight. #人算不如天算🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s July!! It means it’s time for garlic harvesting. For a small 16 square feet area, we have got over 20 bulbs of garlic. Even Basil (the dog) is impressed. 😊

We replaced our front yard lawn with food forest 5 years ago. We started harvesting some fruits a couple years ago. Now the forest starts to mature and we are seeing consistent harvesting beginning in late May. Urban food forest requires detail planning and know how to maximize outcome in reasonable time. Last year, we replaced this front yard with blue star creeper. Owner had tried 3 times prior with different alternatives and none had worked for their needs. In just one year, creeper covered the front lawn, reduced watering, and stayed green with white flowers all summer. Ask which lawn alternatives would fit for your garden.

Spring harvest. If you are in zone 8 or warmer, plant frost tolerant vegetables like carrots, kale, broccoli and rainbow chard in late fall to get some early spring harvest. Happy spring! 🌸
