It has been a few months since I've updated my page...my summer was filled with visitors and grandkids and not much furniture refinishing! Then suddenly most of my furniture in my booth sold, and I've been hustling to get pieces done. Funny how life works πŸ™„

Just delivered today...two ammo crate tables, a super cool upcycled bistro table, and a gorgeous low slung ladies dresser with a full length cheval mirror ❀️and she is a lovely old gal, c. 1880's. I'd keep her if I had room in my house.

The ammo crates are Vietnam era, 1967-1974, completely finished inside and out, with special care to preserve the box contents stamps. I went with some new leg styles this time, and I love each one. These are fun versatile tables that can be used indoors or outdoors, although I do recommend covered outdoor settings.

The bistro table is the ultimate upcycle. The base is vintage cast iron and steel, and the top is a contemporary piece I stole the original bottom from, for another project. They were meant for eachother! 31" tall so perfect for a small dining space.

Come check out my booth and more at Lazy Dog Antiques, behind Denny's on Bragaw and Debarr in Anchorage! Halloween and Christmas goodies are available too!

It was a quick trip today to my booth at Lazy Dog Antiques to deliver this gorgeous Empire era standing hat rack and umbrella stand. I snapped a few more photos of the store while I was there...come check it out soon! Lazy Dog Antiques is conveniently located in Anchorage, behind Denny's on Bragaw and Debarr!

I finally got a few projects knocked out... they've both been delivered to my booth at Lazy Dog Antiques already. First up is a lovely late art deco era end table that was quite the refinish job. It had been painted and decoupaged in a fabulous color scheme but it was worn and well loved. And not my style...but I commend whoever chose it! Anyway this end table had some damage to the beautiful veneers that only paint would cover, but I was able to combine paint and stain to create a really neat color scheme and keep it as traditional as possible. This sturdy all wood table has excellent storage and is shined up and ready for the next generation of love! Reasonably priced at $195. You won't find furniture like this at any big box store!

Next is a WWII era military shipping crate, repurposed into a chest or coffee table with those sexy triple hairpin legs. There is writing on one side but it is almost too faint to read..I can make out USMC and San Francisco and serial numbers but that's about it! This chest is great for storage, would look cool in a man cave, military themed kids room, or cabin where extra storage is essential. Completely finished inside and out too! Also reasonably priced at $175!

You can find these pieces and so much more at Lazy Dog Antiques in Anchorage, behind Denny's on Bragaw and Debarr! Hope you're out enjoying this fabulous sunshine 🌞

It was a lovely frigid day to make a run to my booth at Lazy Dog Antiques in Anchorage. I delivered the Eastlake tea table as well as a few other small items and then spent an hour browsing and taking pictures. I may or may not have purchased a few gifts while I was there πŸ˜‰.

The store is so full of goodies and Christmas stuff. For those who, like me, spent a week shoveling and need some unique gifts now that you can get out of your driveway again, be sure to check out Lazy Dog Antiques, conveniently located behind Denny's on Bragaw and Debarr in Anchorage. Happy holidays!! πŸŽ„πŸŽ‰

I've worked on a number of these Victorian era tea tables, but this is the first one I was able to completely salvage and refinish. The others were either already painted or too damaged that paint needed to hide. I absolutely love the way this old girl turned out!! This table even has the cutest white porcelain casters I've ever seen on a tea table, plus all that adorable carving to give it some flair. What a beautiful antique! I'd keep her if I had room in my house.

This Victorian Eastlake walnut table had been well loved. The top was badly stained from water and moisture damage, and the base was coming apart at each joint. It was super dry and brittle. A lot of hand sanding removed the damage...I never use electric sanders on old pieces like this; hand sanding is far better for this old wood. And my hubby added some glue and a few well placed screws in the base to hold the legs together. My goal was to not paint it!! Goal accomplished!! 😁

Reasonably priced at $265 and will be available at my booth at Lazy Dog Antiques in a couple days. The top coats need to cure a bit longer. πŸ˜‰

This restoration is by far a favorite, because this MCM cedar chest is simply stunning! I have not seen one like it and it cleaned up beautifully 😍

This chest was made in 1962 by Lane Furniture Company. It has been well loved on the top, but the rest of the piece is in really good condition. This is an easy fix, but one I did all by hand to protect those gorgeous walnut veneers. The top has been stripped and refinished but the base got only a light restoration with my favorite product, Howard's Restore a Finish, followed by orange oil. I even managed to match the stain color on the first coat! 😁 that always makes me happy! The inside is pristine and still smells of cedar even after 60 years.

Sorry, this piece is not for sale (or I would have already purchased it for my house πŸ˜€) but stay tuned, more projects are in the queue!!

I finished another of my favorite upcycles, the military ammo box table. I don't have many of these old boxes left and they're not always easy to find. Especially one from 1953, which makes it from the Korean War era. In surprisingly good condition for being 70 years old (in Jan 2023!), this table is lightly restored, leaving as much of the original markings as possible. Triple hairpin legs make it classy! And sealed for outdoors or indoors; I have several I use as side tables on my covered deck. It's at my booth now at Lazy Dog Antiques in Anchorage so go check it out for yourself! Lazy Dog Antiques is conveniently located behind Denny's on Bragaw and Debarr.

It has been a while since I've posted. I am a Grandma to 3 grandbabies today and life has been very busy in my family. My sincere apologies for not posting in a while but I haven't been active in my refinishing hobby since Christmas when my first granddaughter arrived! Granddaughter #2 followed in April, and Otis is now outnumbered as my only grandson so far πŸ˜πŸ’•!

I did get this lovely c.1960's Lane end table cleaned up and restored last week and delivered to my booth at Lazy Dog Antiques in Anchorage. Made of walnut with a laminate top, it is in amazing original condition. Just a few nicks and blemishes; the drawer looks brand new! $225 and this Mad Men style table can be yours!

Lots of other neat things at the store today too...Halloween and Christmas decor is already going up. Shop early for the best vintage holiday decor and gifts for those people in your life who like unique and unusual stuff.

I finally finished these two super cool military crate tables and delivered them to my booth at Lazy Dog Antiques. The dark green one is an old foot locker with writing I can't quite read so I can't date it. But what's neat are the stamped names on the inside of the lid! At least 4 different men used this foot locker at one point! I'm sure if it could talk it would have amazing stories. This is a good coffee table sized piece on 6 inch hairpin feet, and completely finished for a smooth furniture like feel and look. Excellent storage on this one too. It would make a nice blanket chest.

The second ammo box table is a favorite so far! It's the biggest, oldest, and best condition box I've ever found. Usually these old crates are pretty beat up by the time I find them but not this box. Dated 1953, so Korean War era, this box held ammunition for cannons. It sits on 16" triple hairpin legs and would be perfect at the end of a bed for storage. Also completely refinished inside and out with a durable gloss poly topcoat. I'd keep this one if I had room. The inside still looks brand new. πŸ˜€

Be sure to check these and everything else out soon at Lazy Dog Antiques, conveniently located behind Denny's on Bragaw and Debarr in Anchorage.
