I promised I’d take you along with me through this journey as I go back to school and work toward my degree in Integrative Health Sciences with a focus in Herbal Medicine, so here’s a little look at week one. 🌿

This week at the American College of Healthcare Sciences, I got my first real introduction to both herbal medicine and aromatherapy.

I made rosebud + rose petal tea and practiced paying attention to an herb through its color, aroma, taste, and how it actually felt. I also made an aromatherapy spray with lavender, geranium, and Roman chamomile and started learning just how much more there is to essential oils than simply smelling good.

I’ve also started building my Materia Medica + Formulary, which might already be one of my favorite parts.

It’s only week one, but I’m already so excited about everything I’m learning, and where this path may eventually lead for me and Prairie Coast. 🌿

Homemade Maple Pumpkin Spice Creamer 🍂☕️

Our latest little fall kitchen project. Creamy pumpkin, warm spices, vanilla + Rye-Barrel Aged Maple Syrup from Finding Home Farms

And of course we poured it into one of our favorites: Coffee Roaster | Missouri Porchview Blend. 🫶🏼

The best part? We carry both the maple syrup + coffee right here at Prairie Coast, online and in store, so you can make the whole thing at home.

A new collection rooted in simpler ingredients, essential oils, and thoughtful everyday home + body rituals. ✨

First up: our Botanical Cleaning Concentrate. We couldn’t find a premade cleaning base with the kind of ingredient list we wanted, so we decided to formulate our own from the ground up. One concentrate, thoughtfully built to make all-purpose, bathroom, glass + window, and floor cleaners.

We’re currently in our second phase of testing and hoping to have the concentrate ready by October 1, followed by more products we’ll be adding to the collection. Our simmer pot bar is next on the list, along with the bulk herbs + spices we’re currently working on bringing into the Mercantile.

A little more of the Mercantile just made its way online🌿

We’ve officially added a Mercantile Goods section to our website, filled with some of the brands, goods, and everyday favorites you’ve been able to shop with us here in the store.

Think cozy home goods, pantry finds, useful little things, gifts, and the products I find and think, okay yes… this belongs at Prairie Coast.

This is also one of the little ways Prairie Coast is slowly changing. I want it to be easier to shop with us whether you live right down the road or nowhere near Nebraska, so you’ll continue seeing more of our in-store Mercantile assortment make its way online.

Prairie Coast is changing a little bit over here. ✨

If you’ve shopped with us for a while, you’ve probably noticed that our store hours can sometimes change from week to week-and the very simple reason is that it’s just meeeee. 😂

I’m pouring candles, packing online + wholesale orders, doing production, going to school, planning events, running the shop and doing all the other little things that happen behind the scenes of a small business.

So before you make a special trip to see us, please check our Google Maps listing first. That will always be the best place to find our most current store hours.

We’re slowly working toward a new way of shopping Prairie Coast in-person. A more flexible self-shop style store, where you’ll be able to stop in and shop during designated hours without needing me to physically be behind the counter.

Hello, September. 🍂

The kids are back in school, the routines are starting to settle back in, and I can already feel summer slipping away.

It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that another summer with them is already becoming a memory. But I also love knowing there are so many new memories waiting for us in the months ahead.

Cooler evenings. Pumpkin patches. Football. Fall drives. Cozy dinners. Halloween costumes. Thanksgiving around the table. The beginning of holiday season. All the little traditions that make this time of year feel so special.

A fresh season. A little reset. The beginning of all the cozy months I look forward to all year.

And if I’m being completely biased, it’s probably my favorite season. 🍂

Here’s to letting summer become a beautiful memory while making room for everything fall still has waiting for us.
