Oh boy I haven’t posted in a while. Did a deck build that got wrapped up finally on Wednesday. Took about 1.5 weeks bc of the rain.
Today I did an exterior door for a member of our church. Wasn’t expecting rain but boy did it come down…
Black ants made a home in the door 🤣

I had an appointment yesterday morning to install a screen door for an absolutely lovely couple - senior citizens and the husband a retired airman who served 26 years!
Right after I pick up the door, I get a call from the school saying Charlotte wasn’t feeling well and had thrown up 🤢😢
I drop the door off at the homeowners and let them know what happened and that I needed to reschedule, BUT THEN he tells me - just bring her over! I ask where the door needed to go and when I go to the back, I noticed the brick molding was rotten. I didn’t get a lot of pictures because I was a bit frazzled so I went to get char, take her to Lowe’s to get some brick molding (I had mentioned it was $40 for the PVC Brick molding) and Char had thrown up again…this time in my truck lol 😂 she was telling me how sorry she was and I kept telling her it was ok!!
Anywho, I write all this to say that she got to come with me to work and the homeowners were absolutely fantastic with Charlotte! Like she was their granddaughter 🥲.
After I removed the old brick molding, noticed the door frame wasn’t actually fastened to the house 😦😐 so added shims and sealed it, then installed the pvc and screen door.
I ended up removing their satellite dish mount, fastened their metal trim facia that was hanging off the roof for free since they allowed me to bring my baby and they let her paint, sewed a Shaw for her, and gave her snacks 😂
I might’ve done a service for them, but they did for me as well!!!

Did a drywall repair and gutter clean today! Didn’t take too many pictures but you get the gist of it 😉🫡

I did some work on our home earlier this week and didn’t even think to post about it. Previous owners decided to cover all the rot with paint….original plan was to board it with cedar but after seeing how compromised it was, I had no option but to replace every single column. I still plan on boarding it with cedar or pvc but I like the look of it open vs with hand rails. I’ll need to put one rail up on the side where there’s a drop off to the basement but I’ll do it later.

Got called out for a repair yesterday that I ended up tarping since I don’t have time. I was really disappointed in the builder/roofer when I got up there since the underlayment didn’t extend to any of the edges and no starter shingles were used. Shingles blew off due to not being nailed through common bond in the edges and over the drip edging - which contributed to the delamination. No ice and water either. Home was built in 2016 so 10 years since roof was done. Will probably have some more shingles fly off in the near future.
Roof repair turned into coming back Monday to patch some drywall and clean out their gutters. Also unclogged and cleaned his neighbors gutters which turned in to coming back maybe Tuesday to take out a doggie door and patch with some plywood+insulate.

I was humbled yesterday and failed to get up on the roof of my church. I thought I could but it’s a little too steep and I’m just not yet experienced or confident enough ,yet, to do a job like that. I’ve been on a few but at least was able to go up and down on a valley but this had nothing.

Maybe didn’t help it was a little wet from the few showers we had but I just couldn’t do it. I’ll be getting another pitch hopper so maybe that’ll give me the leverage I need to go up it and work.

Big fence job done! Replaced 18 pickets, pressure washed last week, and stained today! It was pretty weathered and I did what I could with cleaning solution and pressure washer (without damaging the pickets). Sprayed but not really that happy with the outcome. Overall night and day difference
I forgot to take before pictures but here’s some during and of course, after. I posted some pictures where you can see the fence from a previous deck job I did for the HO.

This was the project I finished last week. Went today to fix some door jamb wood rot. Patched it for now and also put construction adhesive under the foot plate (barely had a line of silicone) applied flashing tape and sprayed seal foam so I feel pretty confident that water shouldn’t get in anymore. We’re about to get hit hard with rain the rest of the week so I’ll find out real soon!

Need to go back after it rains to sand and paint it.
