The Stone House In the summer of 1950 as a ten-year-old boy, Fr. Eugene Stenzel looked for some kind of energy outlet. Thus began a 64 year process of building with stone.

1955-began building a grotto
1958-began building the single bell tower
1970-built a small gazebo
1973-started construction of a double bell tower
1983-began construction of The Stone House
1987-began establishing a prairie garden
1989-A garage and breezeway were b

1991-built a stone fence along the driveway
1992-began construction of the gazebo
1993-The Secret Garden was laid out
1994-The school house was moved to the family farm & restored
1995-Built a Memorial Wall
1996-began building a stone path with arches between the old farmhouse and new Stone House
1998-built the stone arch pillars an the entrance to the Stone House
1999-added the handcrafted iron gate at the entrance
2000-added a conservatory to the Stone House
2001-began construction of the pergola
2005-began construction of the family tree to be located in Mother's Garden
2009-restoration begun on transforming old granary to a country cottage
2012-construction of outdoor fieldstone pizza oven

It’s been 1 year today that Fr. Stenzel went to heaven. He told me one time that you will be surprised who you see in heaven. I don’t think he is-he saw the good in everyone. Happy 1st heavenly birthday. We all miss you!

Beanstalk 2025!
A huge THANK YOU to all who came out for Beanstalk!
Bean (Fr. Stenzel) would have been over the moon with all the people who had showed up and having so much fun!

Also, thank you to the delicious food trucks the wonderful music, and the vendors who graciously battled the high winds.

What a great turnout we had, we look forward to possibly having Beanstalk 2026!!

EXCITING NEWS ! The Stone House books are done! If you would like to purchase a book, they are available at the Wells Depot Museum. Depot hours are Friday and Saturday from 12-4pm. Books are $15. Cash or check only. Make checks payable to Fr. Eugene Stenzel. Limited copies! Sorry, sending by mail or stopping at his house is not an option because he is dealing with serious health issues. He is asking for your prayers and hopes to feel better soon!
