Another beautiful project completed! 🏡✨

It’s a wood door with aluminum cladding, but the design traps water in the track. Over time, moisture sits, seeps in, and slowly destroys the frame from the inside out.
Five years is NOT normal.
Most homeowners don’t realize the problem isn’t the wood — it’s the design.

I inspected this entry door and the homeowner had been adjusting, tightening, and tweaking it for years. Then it got stuck and they needed to kick it in.
The strike plate was completely gone and the door wouldn’t even latch anymore — but they slowly got used to it.
Most doors don’t fail overnight. They wear out gradually until security, sealing, and alignment are gone.
If your door sticks, rattles, or needs a “trick” to close… it’s already on the same path.

This homeowner had ice forming inside their house—and one of their window panes actually cracked from the cold.
Here’s why: Vinyl frames expand in summer and shrink in winter. Over time, that movement causes warping. When temperatures drop fast, the glass gets stressed inside the distorted frame—and eventually, it can crack.
Energy loss, air leaks, moisture buildup, and structural stress all come from poor window design.
This is why material choice and proper engineering matter more than most people realize.
