Have some produce that's a little old/"second rate" due to bugs/rain?

No problem!

Simply wash, pour a single layer on a cookie sheet, & pop them in the freezer. A couple hours later, pull them out and bag them up for simple storage! They thaw nicely and provide a nice, soft juicy snack or are great for baking!

These are Sophia's FAVORITE treat on a hot day
β™₯️

We also offer these as an option if you'd like some berries for baking but don't have time to get them packed. What's better than FRESH berries in your sweet treats?? πŸ˜‹
4 cups in a bag $10

Let's talk about an underrated part of minimal spray produce production..
It takes a LOT of work.

Whether you're mulching, laying plastic, tilling, or using another form of "natural" w**d control - it takes time and equipment that most people don't consider when starting a farm.

Tillage destroys the structure of the soil - there's no kind way to put it. Mulching and plastic also alter soil characteristics & acidity. They alter the microbiome surrounding your plants' roots - for better and worse. Both mulch and plastic require management - mulch gets too thin, w**ds pop through - plastic gets snagged or degrades in the sun & needs replaced. Good quality plastic is also a rather expensive option for w**d control, we've learned.
Mulch can become a harbor for pests and disease. Pests like slugs, voles, earwigs, molds, fungi, etc. thrive in a dense mulch.
While cover crops are beneficial to both plant and soil, they require management in the form of w**d whacking, mowing, etc. Dense cover crops can be a great harbor for pests (think about slugs!), but they also retain moisture which can increase the risk of certain molds and fungi.

Not one way is "right" and there will never be a "one size fit's all" way to farm.
It's helpful to ask questions/do a lot of research when considering what method fits your farm!

Do you see what I see?

They're turning red :)

We won't sell our first few quarts to make sure the quality is right, but I'd suspect next week we'll have some available!

Tying up berries, because we all could use a little help when things get heavy. πŸ™β€οΈ

This will help our girls continue to grow upward, rather than branching down on the ground to fruit. Fruit on the ground is much more susceptible to bugs, mud splash, disease, AND Sam's imperfect w**d wacking. πŸ˜…πŸ€”

Look at that beautiful fruit coming on!
