Not every ADU is for family.

In Yarmouth, one senior resident spent years trying to turn the 325-sq-ft studio at her home into a legal apartment. Maine’s 2022 ADU law finally settled it. Now the rent from that studio helps her stay in the home she loves.

For many older Mainers on a fixed income, a small rental unit is what makes aging in place possible.

Marianne, 72, has spent nine years in a 408-sq-ft ADU at her daughter’s home in Rhode Island.

Downsizing doesn’t have to mean giving anything up.

Check out our latest post about Windham's growth plan

If you’ve driven Route 302 through North Windham lately, you’ve seen the orange cones, the torn-up shoulders, and the heavy equipment. Most people grumble about the traffic and assume it’s just another road project. It isn’t. What’s happening beneath that pavement is arguably the single mo...
