How to grow ginger at home to have an endless supply (and make it flower)

1. Selecting the Right Ginger:
Choose a firm, plump ginger rhizome with well-developed eyes.
Avoid shriveled or moldy rhizomes.

2. Preparing the Rhizome:
Soak the rhizome in lukewarm water overnight to hydrate it.
Cut into sections with one or two eyes each.

3. Choosing a Container:
Use a wide, shallow container with drainage holes.
Fill with well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter.

4. Planting and Watering:
Bury rhizome sections just below the soil surface with eyes facing up.
Water thoroughly after planting and keep soil moist but not waterlogged.

5. Providing Ideal Conditions:
Maintain a temperature of 75-85°F (24-29°C) and high humidity.
Consider using a humidity tray to increase moisture levels.

6. Watering and Fertilizing:
Keep soil consistently moist, watering regularly.
Fertilize every 2-4 weeks with balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season.

7. Encouraging Blooms:
Provide ample sunlight, warmth, and humidity.
Avoid unnecessary disturbances to the plant.

8. Harvesting and Enjoying:
Harvest rhizomes as needed after 8-10 months.
Store excess ginger in a cool, dry place for future use.

Conclusion:
Growing ginger at home is simple and rewarding, offering a continuous supply of fresh rhizomes and the possibility of beautiful blooms. Follow these steps to enjoy the satisfaction of homegrown goodness for years to come.

Often referred to as poor man’s fertilizer, snow is an excellent source of nitrogen for your garden.

It all starts in the clouds..Nitrates are the result of nitrogen dioxide dissolving in moisture in the clouds.
Precipitation pulls the nitrates down to the ground as a natural fertilizer. Rain and snow both contain nitrogen, but snow by its nature provides a better delivery method.

The nitrogen content in snow isn’t a huge amount but it is more beneficial than rain because of the slow release and little amount of runoff.

Now we can look on the bright side while we’re inside looking out the window dreaming of our spring gardens!

Be kind and grow your own food, we’re happy to plant one for you too!

One call - does it all!!
