Hi y’all, we did unfortunately get denied by every council member today. We can move forward with more steps, and appeals without the stand, but we are not doing so. Even just operating a porch stand requires the same kind of process and fees, and no guarantee it will be approved. We also unfortunately had some letters written by some neighbors who did not approve of it, in which I feel heavily weighed on the opinion of the meeting today. We obviously hope the several porch stands in Wyandotte that we’ve seen have the proper paperwork. Stands like mine have been brought to council several times before, but they are very opposed to these things in the city. Thank you for continuing to place orders with us, and your continued support with our events and pop ups! We are moving this to storage until further notice.

Today is the day! I go infront of City Council (planning commission) today to speak on our denial of the stand. I know I’ve had several letters sent to the City Hall for those who can’t attend today, and I greatly appreciate it.

The meeting is on the third floor of City Hall Council Chambers, at 3200 Biddle Avenue at 6:30PM. I appreciate people showing up today, supporting, and speaking on why you would like to see this stand up and running in the city.

Hi everyone!

I very briefly mentioned my city council meeting about my roadside stand here. I wanted to give some more information on it, and an actual separate post. My date is for Thursday June, 18th at 6:30PM. I will be speaking infront of the mayor and city council on my appeal letter for the reasons stated below.

Section 190.035(I)(4): Any proposed home occupation that is neither specifically permitted by division (I)(2), nor specifically prohibited (I) (3) shall be considered a special use and be granted or denied upon consideration by the Planning Commission.

Section 190.065: Farm Stand is not listed as a principal use or a permitted use for an RM-1 zoning district.

If you cannot come and speak on this, it would be very much appreciated if you could write/type a letter to the council. It must be sent in before June 18th. The address is

Wyandotte City Hall
3200 Biddle Ave.
1st Floor – City Clerk
Wyandotte, MI 48192

Submitted items from the public shall not exceed 2 pages of written content and 3 pages of supporting documentation. Please note that any submitted documents deemed necessary for formal Council action must be treated as a public record and will be placed on the city’s website as part of the agenda packet.

Some of the reasons you could list, or talk about are: Why do you approve this? How would it benefit the city? How does this benefit you? Why do you disagree with the decision made by the city engineer? All the reasons why you're writing the letter.

Thank you for your support!
-Jessica
