In Meadview, there’s a cactus with pink flowers that looks like it got dressed for a desert gala and forgot it’s supposed to be a plant. While every other cactus is standing around in practical shades of “dust” and “slightly darker dust,” this show-off is waving bright pink blossoms like it’s accepting an award for Best Supporting Succulent. The local lizards seem unimpressed, the tumbleweeds keep rolling past without applause, and the cactus just stands there, covered in spikes and flowers, projecting the energy of a bouncer who secretly moonlights as a wedding decorator.
