Happy Friday 🙂

1. Electricity travels at the speed of light, which is 300,000 kilometers per second. That is why electrical shock or electrocution can happen so quickly.
2. A single lightning bolt can measure up to three million volts and lasts less than a second.
3. A spark of static electricity can measure up to 3,000 volts. That is why you should use caution when pumping gas or working around flammable items when you could be charged with static electricity.
4. LED bulbs use about one-sixth of the electricity of conventional bulbs, cost about one-fourth the cost of traditional bulbs to power, and they last about 40 times longer.
5. Appliances in the mid-1980s used about four times as much electricity as a modern appliance.
6. Electricity causes muscle cells in your heart to contract, making it beat. Electrocardiogram (ECG) machines measure the amount of electricity going through the heart. Without the right electrical charge in your body, your heart will fall out of rhythm.
7. A standard taser can emit up to 50,000 volts. That is enough to paralyze someone temporarily, which is why tasers are effectively used.
8. Global electrical production during 2015 approached 25,000 terawatt hours. One terawatt is 1 trillion watts.
9. Even when switched off, an appliance that is plugged in uses energy. The average laptop idles at 20 watts while a desktop computer idles at 80 watts. It is wise to unplug appliances while not in use.
10. It takes more electricity to operate the digital clock on a microwave than it does to heat food in it. You can “zap” your meal cheaper than you can check the time of day.

A faulty electrical panel, faulty wiring, or outdated electrical systems pose a significant risk to your home and its occupants. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), faulty electrical wiring is one of the top five leading causes of house fires in the United States. Each year, home electrical fires:

Account for an estimated 51,000 fires.
Cause more than 500 deaths.
Are responsible for more than 1,400 injuries.
And cause more than $1.3 billion in property damage.

To reduce that risk, the NFPA “… recommend that you have all electrical work done by a qualified electrician, including electrical inspections, when buying or remodeling a home.”

We ALL love FRIDAYS !!!

Here’s a little tip for the day:

Don’t Overload a Circuit

Have you ever tried using your toaster, microwave, and blender at the same time only to blow out the fuse in your kitchen circuit? Each electrical circuit in your home is designed to handle a specific amount of current before overloading and shutting down. If you don’t have overload protection on your circuits, you could start a fire.

Happy Hump Day !!

Did you know !?! Depending on the amount of use, insulation on house wires can become frayed or broken, creating a fire hazard. If you have any doubts about your wiring, have a qualified electrician perform a complete inspection. Houses built between 1965 and 1973, in particular, are at risk because many were built with aluminum wiring, which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says is 55 times more likely to reach "fire hazard conditions" than regular copper wire.
