Hydro-Air was founded in 1976 by Allan Reid.

After years of working for a controls company, his interests grew into the building science involved in various HVAC systems. After starting Hydro-Air, his reputation and the company grew almost immediately as the “go-to” balancer for Calgary and other parts of Western Canada. Throughout the years, Allan was insistent on doing the job the “right way”. He was a leader and mentor in the industry and he was heavily relied upon by mechanical engineers and contractors for advice as well as guidance when developing new projects. Hydro Air Technical Services was proudly built and operating for forty-four years. Even in his final days, he worked hard and was lucky to have his son Cory working along side him.

Unfortunately, we lost Allan in December of 2020. Although he was an impeccable entrepreneur and business man, he was also an incredible family man and loved by his siblings, children and grandkids.

Cory has since taken over the business with hopes to fill big shoes and continue the Hydro-Air legacy.

ACH...or "Air changes per hour" has become an increasing concern since the pandemic. ACH is how many times in an hour the air is replaced in a room or building. Tougher restrictions may come into play for new construction and existing buildings worldwide in regards to this.

A guideline as to how many ACH you should be getting depends on the type of building.
