Trying to slowly introduce your picky eater to some healthy foods? For snacks, lay out all the healthier snack foods you have with 2-3 sweet items in there. Tell them they can make their own customized bowl. But they can only pick 1 sweet snack on top. For example, I lay out pretzels, corn puffs, unsalted mixed nuts, crackers, and then for sweets, yogurt cover raisins, chocolate covered almonds, and gummy worms. Here's what they picked tonight and were very happy about it.
Ana 8 years old: crackers, pretzels, unsalted mixed nuts, and chocolate covered almonds.
AJ 5 years old: pretzels, corn puffs, unsalted mixed nuts and crackers. He did not want anything sweet.

How did this end? : well AJ seen the dark chocolate covered almonds Ana was eating amd said he wanted to try one. So I gave him one. He loved it and asked for a few more. Then out of his own curiosity, asked if it's okay for his body. I explained to him the benefits of almonds and dark chocolate for his body. He seemed very interested. Then asked, "what are carrots good for?" I said "well they help with many things. They help with you eyes, blood and heart."
Then he asked if we had any and if he could have some. I said yes we have plain raw carrots to snack on. And he was just like " Okay can I have some with ranch?" So yeah that's what did and he ate them no problem.

Groceries are expensive. We have adapted the best we can. We make note of what we already have and what we can afford for the week. We plan out our meals and only get what's needed. Here's an example of our meal plan this week. Things with stars next to it we already have in the fridge or freezer. These are just for dinner. During the week our daughter eats the school breakfast and lunch and our son eats his breakfast and lunch at the sitters. We do get snacks and treats outside of this. Just for an idea, we usually spend about $100 a week on groceries and about $25 on on hygiene items. Every week is different depending on what's going on. This is for a family of 4 living in Illinois. 1 kid at 8 and the other at 5.

Hello friends! I've gotten new position at work that I am very grateful for. But it has taken alot of my time . My youngest kid of 4 years has since branched out to new foods. Now he likes cheesy chicken breast. It's basically a thin chicken breast seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper and at the end melted with cheese.

Dinner idea requested by my almost 7 year old. I will add, she normally likes roasted potatoes, but I accidentally added a little too much garlic powder to them. If you don't know, kids taste buds are much more sensitive than adults. Certain seasonings can taste "spicy" to them. Garlic powder is one of them. If your little is sensitive to seasonings, my suggestion is just stick with a neutral oil, like olive oil and then season with salt.
