Easter morning...what a wonderful day to celebrate our Savior, our Healer, our Redeemer, our Provider! He has been all of these things to me personally. I love that we serve a God so personal to each one of us that we each can have our needs met and feel like His "favorite child."
This year has been a hard one but He has shown up and moved so many times for us. Many times when I have been so confused and overwhelmed I've felt these words "Watch Me move and see what I can do". A quiet gentle reminder and promise that when we are weak, He is strong.
John 16:33 says "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
This is such a powerful verse. I've always just thought of this verse as him being a mighty warrior in battle, coming down as a super hero and conquering evil.....but this year Ive come to see it a little differently.
Isaiah 53:3-5 says
"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
He didnt swoop down as a super hero, but humbled himself to come down as man. He faced the same things we faced and at death bore the weight of our sins and faced the stinging hand of death. It appeared death had won. But 3 days later (y'know the day that "by now he stinketh" was spoken of when lazarus died) His tomb wasnt filled with the smell of rotting flesh as his body started to decompose.
He conquered sin, He brought healing and new life, He gave himself as the ultimate sacrifice, He tore the veil of the temple, He defeated death. He rose again so that we may have salvation and eternal life with Him. Not because we are good...but because He is good!
Every problem you may face today, be assured that Jesus has also bore those same problems...and overcame them. When you have no strength to stand, lean on him. He has overcome the world! Hallelujah! He has Risen!

These past few weeks have been hard. My daughter has been in the hospital and in inpatient therapy for post radiation issues. The exhaustion, pain, and helplessness we have felt has been a lot for all of us. But the sweet Spirit of God has been there with us through it holding us strong when we had no strength of our own.
Today, Brantley and I got to slip away for a while while our parents watched our kids and we were able to make it to the "Worth It" event put on by FCAO.
Jamie Finn was their key speaker. She is a bit of a "Foster mom hero" to me. Her blog, Foster the Family Blog speaks to my heart on a regular basis. She doesnt hide the hard things we face in life, but directs our focus back to the place it matters most.
Parenthood and fostercare/adoption is Kingdom work! Its not something we can do on our own, but in our weakness, the Lord's strength makes things possible. It was such a privilege to attend this event and hear her, and get to speak with her afterwards. She prayed over our family and gifted me a signed copy of her devotional. I will treasure it and I'm sure draw strength from it in the days to come. God seems to send you what you need, right when you need it!

We don't understand everything we are going through, or what the future may hold. But we know One who does. With God, all things are possible!
Please keep us in your prayers in these days to come!

Things are alive in the kitchen! I love being able to make my own things!
The photo on the left is my neglected kefir grains that I forgot I had when my daughter was diagnosed and went into the hospital back in July. I had seen it in the refrigerator but not had the energy to deal with. But these snow days have allowed me to get a lot of rest and a lot done around the house, and they have now been dealt with. They need some love but they are still doing good! I was pleasantly surprised! I look forward to being able to add it into our smoothies again!
The photo on the right is my homemade sauerkraut made with 1/3 purple cabbage. This is my last jar so I will be making more this spring probably! We have also been on a bread making kick, so I think it may be time to make some sourdough starter! And I plan to dehydrate some so that I can restart if it fails again due to neglect! Fire cider and homemade hotsauce is also something new I've done this past year! What are some things you like to make in your kitchen and what is your favorite?

Since our daughter's cancer diagnosis, we have definitely put a lot more thought into products we use and what we consume. But this doesn't mean its all feasible for this stage in our lives. So this month's grocery trip included a lot more quick-prep freezer meals but also healthier choices in cleaners and body products. We have made the switch to Melaleuca products this month and I suspect we will love it! We have been drinking Kangen water too and let me just say, its some of the best tasting water ever! And it works so well when making coffee and tea!
The water filter is quite an investment but the cleaning products were actually quite a bit cheaper than I thought they would be.

One day I will have the energy to make everything from scratch again and we will move back to more healthier eating, but that's not this month. Sometimes you have to juggle prioritizing practicality and health because we all know how healthy you will be if you dont get enough rest!

What are some healthy natural/organic items that you cant live without? How long ago did you make the switch to that item?

*pic is of some of our Christmas Eve fun! We took a petting zoo tour of a farm(with extra sanitary precautions taken!)The weather was beautiful and we had so much fun. Also peep our girl's hair growing back even though she isn't done with chemo yet. That has been a happy surprise!

I love being creative but sometimes that creativity gets a little snuffed out by laundry, dishes, etc. Maybe not snuffed out...but postponed? I don't get as much time as I'd like to craft but I also wouldnt trade my responsibilities for all the time in the world to craft. But I get giddy with excitement anytime I can find a few extra minutes to do the principal's whiteboard at school. I usually do it every holiday/season. Here is my latest!

A few days ago, I came home from school physically exhausted. Since several of my children have some food insecurities from before they came to live with us, I've been sure to not only keep them fed and keep the pantry stocked, but to also teach them all how to cook for themselves(and others). They regularly take turns helping with meal prep and they can all make a few things themselves. Im very thankful that they all enjoy making food!
This also comes in very handy when my body says I must rest.
This particular day, they wanted to make pizzas with homemade dough so I made sure they had a good recipe and ingredients and went to prop my feet up and sort and fold laundry. A good while later their pizzas are all put together and in the oven.....and then I look over and see the baking soda on the table.
"Ummm...did the recipe call for baking soda?"
Child: "No but we ran out of flour so one of the other kids brought me this"
"Ummmmm.....did you taste it first?"
" Yeah a little. It didn't taste great but I think it'll be okay. I'll still eat all of mine!"
WRONG!!! It was not ok and they could NOT eat all of theirs. Panic and laughter ensued as a jug of lemonade was quickly mixed up and poured into glasses for all those with puckered faces. Lessons were learned!
"We actually have a lot more flour and a huge bag of potato flour too if needed" I reminded them. Apparently they forgot that we buy all our basic necessities in bulk and just fill the canisters from our bulk storage. So new dough was soon made and new pizzas were baked. These were much better and we had some pretty proud kids! Their mama was pretty proud too! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Life is chaos around here...but I wouldn't have it any other way!

P.S. I didn't think I had any pictures of the fruits of their labor but I found they had apparently snuck my phone and taken this single picture. Whether this particular pizza contains baking soda is unknown!

I tried making something new today and it was a big hit especially with one particular kid who hates anything new and unfamiliar. He was literally sneaking sniffs of the pan the whole time and smiling ear to ear when eating it! Creamed peas, super simple, and oh so tasty!
Now, we have a family of 9 and I learned a long time ago that I am gonna have to double or double and a half any recipe I make. Who has time for all that? I've learned to measure ingredients with my heart, and not a spoon or cup!
So in case you haven't made creamed peas before, here are the instructions and ingredients but measure it "with your heart" or as some say "til it looks right"!

🫛CREAMED PEAS 🫛

*butter, lard, or bacon grease
*flour
* small amount of chicken bouillon
*milk
* bag(s) of frozen peas
*salt
* pepper
*onion powder
*garlic powder
*bacon bits

1. Make a roux with melted grease, flour, and bouillon and cook until golden brown.
2. Whisk in the milk and cook til boiling
3. Lower heat slightly and add frozen peas then cook until warm
4. Add salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder to taste
5. Stir in a small amount of bacon bits
6. Serve it up and call them babies in to dinner!

Let us know your variations if this is something you already make. If you decide to try it after seeing this post, let me know how it turns out!
Happy Sunday Ya'll!

I was finally able to get our Facebook business page renamed, after several months of technical difficulties. Life is very busy for us right now and Im not sure how often I will be able to blog but I see blessings every day in this life of ours and would like to share them here along with products we love, meals we enjoy, and probably some silly quotes from our children. Please stick with us through this transition and if this isnt your cup of tea, then please kindly move on.

Just a short silly quote from my youngest daughter:
T standing in the door waiting for us to notice her*
Brantley: Good Morning Princess!
T: Im not a princess!!! I'm a mermaid!🧜‍♀️

What kind of content would you guys most like to see posted here?

18/07/2025

Well, I said that if I start a blog on here, it will include content of several things but one thing I did not count on was our life turning completely upside down with a medulloblastoma discovery in my daughters brain on Monday. It was removed today and they were very pleased with how much they were able to get. MRI tomorrow will show if there are any remnants. Add medical experiences to the list of things I may blog about. But for now, I'm going to try to grab some sleep. We appreciate your prayers!
Good night all!

Thinking of renaming and turning this page into a blog page instead of archiving it. My blog content would be about anything about my life that I think others could learn from or enjoy.
I have a large family so household management and cooking are always on my mind. We have a small homestead and I enjoy making meals and natural remedies straight from my farm(or backyard) to table. My kids are hilarious and often teach me life lessons so it could be humor or lessons in parenting. I am working on a few side hustles to help provide for our family so you may see some talk about that as well. How many of my followers would be interested in sticking around for this type of content?

Currently putting a hold on my Pampered Chef business. Our little town has awful internet coverage and it's causing a lot of problems with my parties and with my facebook posts going through at the right time. Hopefully we can figure some things out soon to make it work!
